Sports Dress-up Day

Sports Dress-Up Day
was another success this year, as students wore their favorite team's colors, and even the administration got involved. While we all may root for different teams, we all agree that art is the real winner!

Henry Doorly Zoo 2015
Inspiration at the Zoo

First-year students participated in the annual trip to the Henry Doorly Zoo last week to complete preliminary animal sketches. This trip has become a tradition with the students and with Jan Dotzler, the Drawing 101 instructor. "Getting out of the classroom is always nice, and our zoo is such a great place to get inspired!" said Mrs. Dotzler. The students unanimously agreed.

Featured Project: White Paper Project

The very first project for first-year students in Art Media Techniques 101 is affectionately called the "White Paper Project" and it has become a favorite at the Creative Center. Students create a dimensional image out of only white paper and materials. The objective is to keep the image as clean and neat as possible, and projects are graded on craft, layout, and idea.

Below are samples of White Paper Projects created by CC students:
Vera Schwartz - graduate of Secondary School #21, Penza City, Russia
Tiara Lorsung - graduate of Grand Island Senior HS, Grand Island, NE
Shelby Heeren - graduate of Carroll HS, Carroll, IA

Graduate of the Month

Kristine Osbourne
BFA '15
Graphic Designer at Red Branch Media in Omaha, NE

K Osbourne High School: Millard West HS in Omaha, NE

What does the graduate do? Red Branch Media (RBM) is a full-service B2B marketing agency. RBM focuses on multi-channel marketing strategy and websites for small to medium sized businesses, specializing in Human Resources, Talent Acquisition and Management, Finance, Travel and Entertainment, Technology, and Employer Branding. RBM creates brand experiences via traditional, social and mobile channels.

What does the graduate do? I produce design solutions for all RBM clients. I research, find, and generate the best design solution that is not only pretty to look at but sells the service or product. I design employer branding, whitepapers, eBooks, social media posts, infographics, sale decks, and anything else that needs to be transformed from boring to impactful. I also assist the web development team by creating icons, imagery, photography, and layouts. And when I am not swamped by design requests, I create industry related cartoons. I am the design swiss army knife of Red Branch Media.

Clients: JBSSA, Vitru, Omaha YMCA, ClearCompany, TheOlsonGroup, Triage Staffing, CareerBuilder, BroadBean, Elevated by eHarmony, and many many more.

Comments: I live and work by my work's mantra of "You Better #Werk Branch."

Editor's Note: You can see a sample of Kristine's cartoons on the Red Branch Media blog.
