Artists: Already Hard at Work

First Week of Class

TTTTT

The new school year is off to a great start, and we would like to greet all our brand new incoming students as well as welcome back our returning students. All our artists are already working on multiple projects - that's why it's called artwork! Here's to a creative future!

Congratulations to the
 2015 AAMS Recipient!

Tyler Clement with Arrants

TTTTT

Congratulations to Tyler Clement, graduate of Grand Island Northwest High School, in Grand Island, NE, and winner of the eight annual Andy Arrants Memorial Scholarship. Mr. and Mrs. Arrants were present to hand-deliver the scholarship, which provides Tyler's supply kit (valued at $500).

Andy Arrants was a student at the Creative Center who died unexpectedly in 2007. The Creative Center thanks the Arrants family for their ongoing support of CC students by providing this scholarship each year in memory of their son, Andy.

Way to go, Tyler!

Featured Project: Package Design and Advertising

Second-year students are challenged with creating new packaging for a product and then developing advertising to match. Students must be able to not only visualize the package design, but also mock it up to scale.

Below are samples of packaging and related posters created by CC students:

Taylor Burr - graduate of Adams Central HS, Hastings, NE

Katelyn Goecker - graduate of Louisville HS, Louisville, NE

Brandon Henry - graduate of Humboldt HS, Humboldt, KS

Weston Knobloch - graduate of West Lyon Community HS, Inwood, IA

Graduate of the Month
 Allison Sojka

Allison Sojka (Montgomery)
AOS '09
Book Producer and Children's Book Specialist at
Allison Sojka DBA Luminosity Press in Omaha, NE

High School: Millard West HS in Omaha, NE

What does the graduate do? Allison Sojka started her true journey into the magnificent book world when she was 20 years old, in 2008, and has learned so much and come so far in the seven years since!

Sojka works as a contractor in Book Production and Children's Book Specialization, meaning she takes on numerous work roles including, but not limited to: author, editor, illustrator, graphic designer, and social media specialist. She has started to sell classroom sets of the title No Worries Whale (illustrated by Sojka and written by Amanda Gehrke) to elementary schools to be used as a tool for children in lessons of science and creative writing, and she has joined children during the school year and summer school as an Author/Illustrator Visitor and Presenter.

Sojka holds a true love for education, the environment, and the arts. She aspires to use the children's book No Worries Whale in teaching children the importance of protecting the ocean and those who brave it, no matter where on planet earth they live. Other works such as The great mystery of: The Clock that Wouldn't Tick strive to teach children lessons of compassion.

The Rafters: Book One of the Somnambulist Saga and No Worries Whale: A Book of Ocean Poems are among Sojka's first published titles, and she continues forward with a handful of children's books (by various authors) currently in the works, and even more titles waiting on the backburner. Our world contains an endless supply of aspiring authors, and Sojka looks forward to discovering those who seek her services and helping to bring their written manuscripts to life in final book form!

Clients: Sojka works with authors including, but not limited to, Amanda Gehrke (No Worries Whale: A Book of Ocean Poems) and Sherrel W. Lawhon (The great Mystery of: The Clock that Wouldn't Tick).

From the Director
Classes are formally underway here on campus, and with projects up, the walls are already looking a little less white - thank goodness! Here's to a smooth and creative year!

My personal congratulations to Tyler Clement for winning the Andy Arrants Memorial Scholarship, and a special thanks to the Arrants family for supporting our cause all these years. We appreciate you!

If you are considering a career in graphic design and advertising, call us today to set up a time to interview. Fall classes for 2016 start on August 8.
