Featured Project: Illustration in Three Media

Designers are challenged every day with the question of how to produce a project. (Which software application is the most efficient? Perhaps a computer is not the best tool to use.) One of the first projects in the second year is the chance to illustrate the same picture in three different media: traditional, vector (Illustrator), and raster (Photoshop). This project helps to validate the verbal instruction describing each medium's strengths; it also gives credence to each medium's weaknesses. Below are samples of illustrations created by CC students; two of the three styles are shown. Top to bottom:

Katie Musil (traditional and raster) - graduate of Tri County Public Schools in DeWitt, NE
Cole Collett (traditional and raster) - graduate of Bellevue West HS in Bellevue, NE
Crystal Puhrmann (vector and raster) - graduate of South O'Brien HS in Paullina, IA

From the Director    Kim Guyer
I hope that everyone had a fun and safe Halloween. It always amazes me to see the costumes that our students come up with. There's never a dull moment around here!

If you are interested in learning more about the graphic design and advertising career field, feel free to attend our Career Explorers Post, which kicks off on Tuesday, November 5 at 6:30 here on campus.

And, if you are a high school senior, and you are considering a career in graphic design and advertising, call us to set up a time to interview and visit our campus. Fall classes for 2014 start on August 11.

Sincerely,
