Gaining Insight from Outside the Classroom
Guest Speakers expand students' minds
Dave Nelson (AOS '02), owner of Secret Penguin, speaks to the BFA class about the challenges and advantages of owning your own business.
Did you know that by the time a Creative Center student graduates from the BFA program, they have been exposed to over 75 industry professionals?Visiting instructors, guest speakers, and company tours expand on the curriculum of the college and allow students to get current information and advice from the field as it happens. In-house departments, design firms, print shops, advertising agencies ... you name it, and our students are afforded the opportunity for direct contact with it. What better way to allow your students to make a career choice than to connect them with as many career choices as possible?

Alumni provide a panel for second-year students to inquire about the job search process. From left to right: Kelsey Piper with Wright Printing, Josh Lawler and Nate Perry with Webster Design Associates, Becca Nispel with Skwintz, and Kelsey Janda with Christ Community Church.

Featured Project: Package Design
Many students consider package design to be one of the most fun forms of design. One of the assignments in second year includes designing and executing a game box. Students are given parameters and limitations in order to replicate an industry project, and are also required to create the die cut map which would be provided to the printer. Below are samples of package designs created by CC students. Top to bottom:
