It's Finally ART Time!
Students Are Excited About the First Day of Classes
Students chattered happily as the doors opened for the first day of classes at the Creative Center on Monday, August 12. While first-year students tentatively found their seats, second and third-year students boldly entered their classrooms, looking for familiar faces as "hellos" were heard along the hallways.
The first week of class is usually the most chaotic, with orientation, as well as the simple act of adjusting to a new (or renewed) routine. Since the first week, however, the students have settled into their schedules and are excited to continue their quest to be professional artists!

Graduate of the Month
Brittney (Koch) Thoene
BFA '11
Fine Arts and Humanities Graphic Designer & Event Coordinator at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, TX
wtamu.edu
High School: Laurel-Concord High School in Laurel, NE
What does the company do? West Texas A&M University has approximately 10,000 students and offers 62 undergraduate degrees, 41 masters', and one doctoral degree. WTAMU is a great university and a great company to work for.
What does the graduate do? As the one and only Fine Arts and Humanities Graphic Designer, I am responsible for all of the advertising done within the Fine Arts Complex. This may include, but is not limited to: playbills, tickets, t-shirts, concert programs, brochures, camp logos, posters, DVD/CD cases, flyers, creating/ordering certificates and plaques, FAH website management, etc. Being the FAH Graphic Designer means I am responsible for all six departments in the FAH college.
Additional Comments: Being the only graphic designer for the entire Fine Arts and Humanities College means I stay very busy. Because of this, time management, great organizational skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must. I have learned it is also very important to have a great working relationship with printers and a general understanding of what they can and cannot do. I love my job and enjoy coming to work every single day. I have been very fortunate to be blessed with my position and to become part of the West Texas A&M University family.
