One Last Portfolio Critique
Students look forward to Portfolio Review Night at the Creative Center with both excitement and nerves. This event provides a final opportunity for graduating students to have their portfolios critiqued by several professionals before they officially enter the job hunt. Many of these professionals are looking for talent to hire, so students must be able to discuss their work accurately and intelligently. Plus, this last chance to practice gives the graduates an advantage once the search for a job officially begins!
A big THANK YOU to all the
professionals who made this year's event possible:
Pat Ervin, Fountain Creek DezignWorks
Suzie Hartman, Flourish Design

Featured Project: Self-Promotional Websites
Part of getting a job after you graduate is promoting yourself, and what better way to promote yourself as a graphic designer than to have your very own website? Keeping the future in mind, BFA students are charged with either updating a previous website or creating a brand new one to use during their interview processes. As a bonus, the Creative Center will host that website for one year after they graduate!
Below are samples of self-promotional websites created by CC students. Click on the image to go to the website itself. Top to bottom:
Jordan Adkisson - graduate of Waverly HS in Waverly, NE
Hailey Bauman - graduate of Valley Heights Jr-Sr HS in Blue Rapids, KS
Dylan Ludwick - graduate of Abraham Lincoln HS in Council Bluffs, IA
Chris Driver - graduate of Lewis Central Sr HS in Council Bluffs, IA

Graduate of the Month
Brenna French
BFA '12
Graphic Designer at Performance Auto Group in Omaha, NE
www.performanceauto.com
High School: North Star High School in Lincoln, NE
What does the company do? Performance Auto Group sells Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and Ram makes and models along with other brands like Toyota, Lexus, Infiniti, Ford, VW, smart, and Scion. I work in the marketing department; we handle all of the interactive online marketing for Performance and Baxter stores.
What does the graduate do? I handle the look (graphic design) of all the stores/dealerships online and make sure we handle each brand under compliance. In other words, I am working on their web redesign, identity redesign, maintaining their websites, email blasts, some print layout/design, and campaign design.
Clients: Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Toyota, Lexus, Infiniti, Ford, VW, smart, and Scion.
Comments: The best thing about my job is that I am a part of an awesome team. We all have fun and are serious about our job at the same time. Our director of Marketing pushes us to be better, interacts with us, and guides us to further our own individual careers. I am honored to be a part of a marketing department that is progressing and growing under the leadership of our Director. I think it is very important to find a boss who has the heart of a teacher! And, I am very grateful for the education the Creative Center has provided me! Without you guys I definitely wouldn't be where I am today.
