Mark Ewert_ Stewardship For Us

PRESENTER: Mark Ewert, UU Consultant, the Stewardship for Us team, and author of The Generosity Path

Many congregations struggle with their annual drives; to recruit volunteers, to engage congregants in understanding how stewardship works, and to get them to respond generously. Once you have the basics of an annual budget (pledge) drive working, how can you take your program to the next level?

This workshop will touch on continuous improvement for the basics (which can always be refined!) and then cover other "legs of the stool" that provide financial fuel for congregations. These include fundraisers, earned income, endowment, crowdfunding, and other sources. We will covers adding legs to your stools while supporting annual financial commitments as the primary source of funding.

We will also think holistically about stewardship in your congregation; how to engage other parts of the congregation in stewardship as well as the spiritual and personal development of your members as stewards.

Please be prepared to bring and share resources, ideas, successes and challenges with your peers. We will gather and build on the profound wisdom bank your teams have developed over recent years.

WORKSHOP GOALS:
  • Refine your basic annual drive practices
  • Align all of the income sources for your congregation, so the annual drive thrives
  • Engage other areas of congregational life in stewardship
  • Help to grow a steward identity in your congregants
