Crowdfund
Your Ministries
with FAITHIFY

One of the more exciting developments in the New England Region these days is FAITHIFY, a first-of-its-kind crowdfunding website for Unitarian Universalist ministries. The platform was developed by the Massachusetts Bay District over the past few years and gifted this summer to our larger movement.

So far, over $100,000 has been pledged on FAITHIFY towards ministries across the country. As the church year gets going we want to be sure and your fellow leaders in congregations are thinking about how FAITHIFY could work for you.

 How FAITHIFY Works

A lot of people these days are familiar with crowdfunding through sites like Kickstarter and GoFundMe. FAITHIFY works in a similar way where people post creative projects, you and the "crowd" make a pledge towards those ideas, and if projects reach their target goal amount the project is funded! Projects range from everything from youth work to justice, service, buildings, or staff positions to emerging ministries.

What makes FAITHIFY unique is that we ask projects to describe their associational and covenantal relationships - how do they claim and how are they claimed by Unitarian Universalism. This allows FAITHIFY users to be sure that their follows, shares, and funds are in keeping with our UU values.

We think FAITHIFY could revolutionize fundraising in your congregation. Here are just some of the ways you could use this new UU resource:

    1. Post a project to raise funds for your congregation's need
Consider crowdfunding those items that come up throughout the year but aren't in the operating budget - materials (worship items, projector or sound equipment), additional staff needs, special youth projects, or other smaller-scale, shorter term needs.

    2. Take a special collection or use a special designated fund to fund through FAITHIFY
Increase your connection to ministries in other parts of the country by funding their great ide as. You may develop new partnerships, or generate new ideas for your congregation by seeing what else is out there on FAITHIFY.

    3. Spend time at an upcoming meeting perusing Faithify.org with your fellow Committee members
Take a look at the projects posted on the site and get inspired about what your passionate peers are doing in other places. One of FAITHIFY's core goals is to expand our imaginations and looking at the site together is one way to tap into that possibility.
