Renewal Process Update

Faith Lutheran Church in Brookfield, IL

Umbrella Strategy (Draft)

Purpose:

"A community of disciples, embodying the unconditional love of Jesus."

Principles:

To shape our decisions and live our faith together:

  1. We dedicate our lives to following Jesus.
  2. We welcome and invite anyone and everyone.
  3. We build loving and caring relationships.
  4. We give generously as God calls us.
  5. We serve and make a difference in the world.

Priorities:

In order to carry out God's work, we will focus our energy and resources to:

  1. Provide family friendly worship in ways that help people encounter God.
  2. Create an authentic community that nurtures and cares for people.
  3. Equip and mobilize people to lead and serve as Christ's hands and voice - both in the church and in the world.
  4. Enhance communication in the congregation and to the community in ways that encourage participation in God's work.
  5. Help care for people living on society's margins.
  6. Partner with others to increase our influence in the community.

Above is the Umbrella Strategy for Faith's renewal process. It was put together based on community leader and congregational input and approved by the church council. However, it is still a draft. Over the next several weeks, the Renewal Team would like the congregation to prayerfully consider this strategy. Please take the time not only to read it, but to digest it, talk about it with each other and with the Renewal Team. Remember this strategy is meant to describe the congregation of Faith at our best. Please let the team know if you have questions or concerns. Due to vacations the Renewal team will not meet as a whole again until early August. We will let you know next steps after that.

Fourth of July Parade

Once again we will participate in Brookfield's 4th of July parade.  It's a great time and the community enjoys and looks forward to seeing and hearing us every year.  As usual, we will have the band on the trailer.

Most importantly, this is a great chance for us to make ourselves visible to the community, and to demonstrate what a lively church we are.

We will be meeting at the church at 8:00 a.m. on July 4th to decorate the truck and trailer.  At 9:00 we will head over to our spot in the parade.  We have not received our position yet, but we will most likely be towards the beginning of the parade, so we should be lining up right around Kemman and Jackson, so if you can't make it to the church to help decorate you can join us there.  We'd love to have as many people as possible walk the parade route with us.  And if you can't walk the whole route, join us for whatever you can walk.  And if you will be watching, cheer us on as we go by!

Remember to wear your 'Got Faith?' shirts.

If you have any questions, please contact Bill Bringman.
