Aaron Conley's Story & RIS Named Funds
At the age of twenty-four Aaron Conley spent most of his days striving to improve his business, Conley Spray Foam Insulation (located in Albia, Iowa), which he owns and operates with his father and brother. With the little free time Aaron did have, he enjoyed living life to the fullest - sharing his laughter, sense of humor and light-heartedness. On March 9, 2012, however Aaron's world changed quickly-- on that day, he first heard the words Epithelioid Sarcoma.
Through Aaron's determination, grit and humor, he is not only a sarcoma survivor but he has become a significant ambassador for RIS. Because of his leadership and persuasion, Minnesota's renowned Mayo Clinic and several Iowa medical centers are working in closer collaboration with RIS. Read more of Aaron's story...
The Conley family also has started a fund, to join with over a dozen Named Tribute and Named Memorial Funds which annually support the work of RIS by significant contributions. New Funds will be dedicated, and all active Funds will be recognized, during our Party's Closing Ceremony. To find out more about establishing a RIS Named Fund for yourself or a loved one, click here.

Ruth Bachman's new book, "Growing Through the Narrow Spots," is more than a book about cancer. It is a roadmap which encourages the reader to look closely and patiently at all of life's challenges, or narrow spots, to discover the internal and external resources that are available to help navigate these narrow spots. Resilience is something each of us has access to when facing the changes and challenges that life brings. No one and no thing is permanent.
Change is inevitable. Transformation is intentional. You'll want to buy this book! Learn more & order.

For the past four years RIS has awarded scholarships to medical students at the University of Minnesota to educate them about sarcoma cancers and to also encourage their interest in oncology. During their term of service, Sarcoma Scholars attend Thursday morning multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss treatment for sarcoma patients, and they assist at RIS events. Sarcoma Scholars are also responsible for planning the RIS sponsored sarcoma lunch lecture for medical students. Following this spring's lecture, several students submitted applications and three exceptional candidates were selected to serve as Sarcoma Scholars for 2013-2014. Learn more....

Andrea at her tea room
|
Andrea Pomeroy had a smile that could light up a tea room - and often did! Andrea was a powerhouse behind the Mad Hatter Tea Room in Anoka, which she operated along with her mom. Andrea was one of thousands of bright young people whose lives have been cut short by this terrible disease. But everyone who knew Andrea is determined to keep her spirit, and hope for a cure, alive. That's why we've created Andrea's Blend Tea, to honor her and to raise money to fight this disease. Learn more and order.
