Mark your calendars, save the date, January 27th is going to be an afternoon of entertainment, decadent desserts, and learning some new skills in self care and resilience.

Join us in the Heritage Room at Bachman's on Lyndale in Minneapolis, for an afternoon that reminds us on all levels that beneath the Minnesota snow and cold or the devastation of sarcoma there is a spring of hope. We will gather in a place of growing things and beautiful flowers to greet old friends, make new friends and learn new skills.

The afternoon will feature Becky Gorman, a faculty member from the Center for Spirituality & Healing at the University of Minnesota, who will join us in speaking on "Designing Your Own Resilience and Self-Care". Her topic is appropriate to all of us no matter where we are in the sarcoma journey, newly diagnosed, survivor or someone who has suffered a loss due to sarcoma.

Our thanks to Ruth and Dale Bachman who are hosting the afternoon. The RIS Gathering is free and open event for all sarcoma patients, survivors, loved ones and those who may have lost someone to sarcoma. Advance registration is requested. To Register for this January 27th Gathering, click here.

Dr. Carlos Manivel teaches pathology to 2012 RIS Mini Medical School Class

The 4th Annual mini-medical school will feature a behind the scenes look at sarcoma research at the University of Minnesota. The school will convene the class of 2013 on Saturday, March 2nd (note the change in date) with Dean Katherine Dusenbery. This will be a unique opportunity to learn about and experience the vital research on sarcoma that is ongoing at the University of Minnesota.

Several of the researchers themselves will be a part of the all-star lineup Dr. Dusenbery is assembling for us. You will find out how the money you have helped to raise is impacting sarcoma research. Come at 8:30 for a continental breakfast and be ready to begin your studies at 9:00. You will graduate with a wealth of new knowledge at 12:00.

This program is limited to 30 spaces so register early and don't miss out. The class is available to anyone who donates to RIS in 2012. Give to the Max 2012

Our thanks to the 57 of you who donated to $9,315 to Rein in Sarcoma through Give to Max Day on November 15th. Your generous donations released $5,000 in matching funds from two anonymous donors. In addition we received a major donation of $5,000 by the Middleton family in memory of Jackie Middleton. This amazing outpouring of support from the sarcoma community brought the total Give to the Max donations to Rein in Sarcoma to $19, 315! We are one step closer to making Sarcoma even rarer.

Give to the Max was a remarkable outpouring of support for Minnesota's non-profit community. Over all over 53,000 donated over $16.3 million dollars raising.   Out of 4,381 MN Non-profits that participated in this year's Give to the Max Day, Rein in Sarcoma ranked 165 in total contributions. This awesome and generous support is an incredible testament to your passion and commitment to supporting sarcoma cancer patients, education and research.

If you have not given, there is still time to make a difference by making a contribution before the end of the year. Respond to our year-end mailing or give online by clicking here.
