Now accepting applications, the Tampa Bay Innovation Center has launched a new suite of programs for scientists, researchers, engineers and technology entrepreneurs. Beginning in March, StartUp Studio uses hands on tools to define the real value of a technology idea, who is in need of the solution and the path to success.
StartUp Studio 1.0 allows entrepreneurs to work collaboratively with coaches in eight weekly, small-group sessions to apply a business-focused lens to their idea and assess readiness for the next stage of development - whether it's incubation, licensing or partnerships. StartUp Studio 1.0 provides an interactive, high-energy environment to roll up your sleeves, discover and communicate the business value of your idea. This allows the entrepreneur to avoid the "polite nod" and communicate compelling propositions for investors, customers, managers and partners.
StartUp Studio features two internationally recognized programs: Wendy Kennedy's "So what? who cares? why you?™" for StartUp Studio 1.0 and the Kauffman Foundation's FastTrac® TechVenture™ program for StartUp Studio 2.0 (scheduled to launch in May). Both programs are taught by certified coaches and utilize toolsets and frameworks in use throughout the world with technology entrepreneurs. The StartUp Studio programs are open to any technology idea or startup. The Innovation Center was awarded a grant from the State of Florida to reimburse the program fee for qualifying entrepreneurs with military experience (active duty, reservists, retired) in the Tampa Bay area upon completion of the program (limited number available).
