To ALL Piedmont Families
Opening day was a great success and I'm happy to see the Piedmont Baseball & Softball seasons under way.
Unfortunately due to the large crowds and subsequently the large amount of cars at our facilities last Saturday, New Castle County has fielded over 30 complaints of parking problems at the Hockessin Public Library.
It is clear that we don't have enough parking for everyone to park close to the action. Having said that, our lease with the county is predicated on the fact that we will cooperate with the Hockessin Public Library in regards to the parking situation.
We cannot continue to park in the first two rows of the Hockessin Public Library. (see the picture below) There are signs in place to remind people of this fact. Unfortunately, these signs were ignored this past weekend and the complaints went directly to the New Castle County Administration. I have had a meeting with the County and assured them we will be in compliance going further.
If we cannot be in compliance we will be faced with increased monitoring of the parking lot and handing out player suspensions for those that park in this area. Obviously this is something the Board of Directors does NOT want to do. Please help Piedmont and refrain from parking in the first two rows at the library. Please take the initiative and tell friends and relatives not to park in the area shown below also.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Respectfully,
Bruce Awtry
Piedmont Board of Director, President
