Ohio Workforce Training Funding Available for Ohio Businesses
Round four of the Ohio Incumbent Workforce Training Voucher Program is right around the corner. Training is available in the following fields: Advanced Manufacturing, Aerospace and Aviation, Automotive, Back Office, BioHealth, Corporate Headquarters, Energy, Financial Services, Food Processing, Information Technology and Services, Logistics, Polymers and Chemicals, and Research and Development.

Businesses can begin the online process on September 28, 2015 and will have more than two weeks to gather the necessary information to complete their application. The online applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and can be submitted beginning on October 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m.

Training opportunities include, but are not limited to, operational skills training, certification processes and equipment training. Training can occur at the employer's facility or provider's training facility, as well as at a third-party site.

The Ohio Development Services Agency will reimburse the employer for up to 50 percent of the eligible training costs, up to $4,000 per employee, after 1) the employer pays the full cost of the training, and 2) the employee successfully completes the training. The maximum amount an employer may qualify for in a fiscal year is $100,000. The company must be in operation for at least 12 months in Ohio to participate.

Green Chamber's IMPACT Awards to Honor Local Businesses
Do you know any businesses who have made an outstanding positive impression on you, the environment and/or the community?

Nominate the outstanding business for a Green Area Chamber Impact Award by September 30th. It is easy to submit a nomination. Simply send an email with the business name, contact name and information, and reason for nominating to info@greencoc.org.

Businesses may be new or well established. They may have completed a major growth project or an important initiative. Businesses may nominate themselves. 

There are three main award categories:
Vision Award is awarded to companies that have grown as a result of a keen focus on their core values, mission and vision.

Community Award honors companies who eagerly contribute to the quality of Green life.
Environment Award is awarded to companies that demonstrate commitment to protecting and enhancing the environment.

Beginning Oct. 1st, the Selection Committee will contact all nominated companies and interview them for additional information and qualifications.

Green Area Chamber is excited to recognize successful businesses and their efforts to enrich business and grow community.

High School Internship Program - Career Exploration Program
The Ohio Development Services Agency recent launched the Ohio Career Exploration Program, aimed at helping high school students investigate a career path.  The program offers business reimbursement for half of the wages of a high school student who is exploring a career, up to $5,000 per student.  If you are interested in more information about this program, click here.  If you are willing to hire a student contact the Portage Lakes Career Center or the Green Local Schools. 
Foreign Corrupt Practices Act & International Due Diligence Seminar
On Tuesday, October 6, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. to noon, NEOTEC will be hosting a seminar to assist US companies doing business with international partners understand business practices that may be different than those they are most familiar.  The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) prohibits US businesses from engaging in acts of bribery that may be common in other countries and cultures.  Violations of the FCPA carry significant criminal penalties and can lead to costly investigations, even if the actions are taken by individuals outside of the organization.
