Financing Available for Energy Savings Upgrades
The Ohio Development Services Agency's Energy Loan Fund program provides low-cost financing to small businesses, manufacturers, nonprofits and public entities for energy improvements that reduce energy usage and associated costs, fossil fuel emissions and/or create or retain jobs.  Eligible activities include energy retrofits, energy distribution technologies and renewable energy technologies. Projects must achieve 15 percent reduction in energy usage, demonstrate economic and environmental impacts and be included within a long-term energy strategy of the community served.

Northeast Ohio 2Q Performance Report Available
Team NEO has recently released its quarterly economic indicators report for the second quarter of 2013.  The report indicates steady gains in employment for headquarters locations, as well as increases in activity in the Utica shale industry.  The report also highlights changes in gross regional product, office and industrial vacancy as well as the unemployment rate.  To review Team NEO's report click here.  
State of Ohio - Incumbent Workforce Training Program
Are you trying to figure out how you are going to pay for training your current workers, are you thinking about ISO certification, or need some specialized training?  The State of Ohio maybe able to help.  The Incumbent Workforce Training Program is now accepting applications for the next funding round. This popular program offers Ohio companies up to $4,000 per employee per fiscal year, up to $250,000 per employer. 

The program awards funds on a first-come, first-served basis, so do not delay in applying.

Eligible employers must demonstrate that by receiving funding assistance through the Ohio Incumbent Workforce Training Voucher Program their business will not only obtain a skilled workforce but will improve their company processes and competitiveness.

City Update
Communitywide Food Drive - Green Gives Back

The City of Green is initiating a Citywide Food Drive -- Green Gives Back -- beginning November 1 and running through December 31.  The food drive will collect items for Green Good Neighbors, which serves Green and the surrounding communities.  Non-perishable food and personal care items such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, diapers, feminine products, etc., will be accepted at all City buildings, all school buildings, Akron-Summit County Public Library - Green Branch, Akron General Health and Wellness Center, Green YMCA, and Buehler's (former Portage Lakes IGA).   

 

The City is encouraging all residents and businesses to participate this holiday season to help those in our community who are in need.  If your business is interested in participating, please to contact Kelly Lavaco at [email protected] to learn how you can contribute and be recognized.  

 

Construction Season Coming to an End
Construction Barrel The 2013 construction season is winding down.  We would like to thank all of our businesses and their employees for their patience during this summer's road construction.  We had a very aggressive season and were able to complete most of our projects, and are still working to complete some projects before the first flakes fly.  Stay tuned as we continue to improve Green's roadways.
Green Chamber Update
Green Community Expo & Health Fair - Saturday, Oct. 12
The Green Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the 8th Annual Green Expo and Health Fair presented by Summa Health System at the Portage Lakes Career Center this Saturday, October 12.  This year's theme is "A Healthy You" and takes on a broad interpretation to include financial well-being to physical health to environmental sustainability.

IMPACT Awards Luncheon - Tuesday, November 12
The Green Chamber will be hosting the 6th Annual Green Chamber IMPACT Awards on Tuesday, November 12.  The luncheon recognizes businesses of all sizes for the IMPACT they have made to the community.  This year's keynote speaker will be Ken Babby, owner & CEO of the Akron Aeros.  For more information about the event or to register please contact the Green Chamber of Commerce or click here.
