Tips and Tricks to Make Life Easier
It's easier to be lazy when you're organized.

Here are 4 quick monthly tips from me, Molly Boren
of Simplicity Works Organizing Services. I hope they
make your life a little easier.
Remember: if it takes 2 minutes or less, do it now.
That is, read this now & then file or delete it. How ironic if it were to become e-clutter! |

Do Gather
Instead of suffering the annoyance of someone else's clutter in a shared space, have an actual conversation to identify a collection point where you can move their things if you need to clear a surface, & they can find things they neglected to put away. My husband's is a basket; mine is my desk. (You may also need to talk about what happens when the collection point overflows.)

Don't Add On
"While I'm at it I might as well..." are famous last words, often marking the end of an on-schedule day. If you're not 100% sure you have time for an additional errand or task (even though you're right in the neighborhood!), JUST SAY NO. It's not worth the stress & fallout. It's another case of False Efficiency.

Get Bright
Wonderful Client Alisa has had great success with the INSTABulb for lighting a closet. Apparently it's not great for long durations, but for slapping up in a dark closet & immediately being able to see what you have (a precursor to getting & staying organized) it's aces!

GIVE |

Give to Goodwill
I love delivering donations to Goodwill because 1) they make it easy, 2) they're friendly, 3) they recycle most of what they can't resell, 4) their stores are orderly & pleasant, & most of all 5) their programs help people of all stripes find rewarding work. I hear they might open an Ann Arbor store next year!
