Tips and Tricks to Make Life Easier

It's easier to be lazy when you're organized.

Here are 4 quick monthly tips from me, Molly Boren
of Simplicity Works Organizing Services. I hope they
make your life a little easier.

Remember: if it takes 2 minutes or less, do it now.
That is, read this now & then file or delete it.
How ironic if it were to become e-clutter!

Do Start a New Habit

What's the key to actually implementing the actions that build a more fulfilling & productive life? (For me, it's more sleep.) Make them automatic & keep expectations low, says The Energy Project: 1 new habit at a time. Tracking your progress with 21habit.com helps too. I tried it, & now actually get more sleep!

DON'T

Scissors
Don't Clip Coupons
They're tempting, but: a) do you actually use them, b) do you use them on things you really need, & c) is 20 cents worth your time spent cutting & managing them? If you answered no, no, or no, put down the scissors. If you find one you know you'll use, keep it in your wallet. Otherwise, don't let them make you feel bad.
GET

OrigamiRack shelves
Get Shelves
A client introduced me to OrigamiRack's impressive line of freestanding shelves . They really do require zero assembly, fold down flat for storage, & open up into sturdy, nice-looking shelves in 20 seconds.

Give Kids a Chance
For over 40 years, Ozone House has helped kids aged 10-20 in Washtenaw County, MI succeed despite lacking a safe or stable place to call home. The many ways to help them in their mission include doing your everyday shopping on Goodshop.com, donating online, or purchasing an item from their wish list.

How to wrangle all of those toys in your kid's play room without making it a full-time job? Check out my guest blog post for our Michigan chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers: "A More Organized Play Room is More Fun!"
