Club Members Participate in Bird Watching Field Trips

This winter our members have been given the wonderful opportunity of working with Senior Naturalist, Vern Laux of The Linda Loring Nature Foundation. To date Vern has taken some 30 Club members out to look at Nantucket's wintering birdlife. Most recently members have gotten great views of Snowy Owls through a spotting scope. Vern has taught them about the species many adaptations to survive in the cold of the Arctic, and how and what they eat when visiting Nantucket. This winter has seen the largest "irruption" ever recorded with 33 Snowy Owls on the island's Christmas Bird Count!

Thank you again to Vern and The Linda Loring Nature Foundation for providing our members with these wonderful field trips! Check out more about The LLNF and their programs by visiting their website here.

Disc Dyeing Social!

Join us on Friday, January 24th for a very special Family Fun Night! The NBGC has partnered up again with Nantucket Disc Golf to host a "Disc Dyeing Social". From 5:00pm - 7:30pm in the Art Room Club members and their families will be given all the tools they need to dye their own discs. Discs will be provided by Nantucket Disc Golf, or you may bring your own. This event will be open to the entire community and all ages are welcome!

Cost for the program is a $10 donation to the Club per family.

Thank You NGCF!

We would like to offer a special thank you to the Nantucket Golf Club Foundation for their annual grant. Their immense generosity has been so beneficial to our programs and Club members now and throughout the past.

Thank you NGCF!

Club Athletics

Basketball season off to a strong start!

Since returning from holiday break, the gym has been bustling with activity. With almost 300 players, making up 30 different teams, there is always something exciting happening in the gym. While we're only the first week into games, there have already been a number of VERY close games. If you haven't yet, be sure to pop into the gym to see what's going on!

MLK Day 2 on 2 Basketball Tournament

We will be holding a 2 on 2 basketball tournament on Monday, January 20th  for Club members in grades 5th through 8th. 5th and 6th graders will play at 11:00 and 7th and 8th at 1:00. Members may pre register with Joe here at the Club, or just show up on Monday! Players may bring their own partner, or be partnered up with someone on the day of the tournament.

*Please note: the Club will be closed on Monday, only the gym will be open for the tournament.

UMASS field trip this weekend

A group of lucky Club members will travel to Boston this weekend to see the UMass Boston Beacons take on the Western Connecticut State Colonials in basketball. Stay tuned for pictures from their trip!
