It's February. The days are getting longer! We have a day off to look forward to (and some great workshops at Wavelengths on Family Day!). There's still hope for more snow and winter fun before spring officially arrives next month. And, we're having a sale! 10-25% most products at the studio. More about that, below. This month, we're also encouraging you to think about your home yoga practice. It's great to come to a class once or twice a week, but even more of yoga's benefits are revealed when you make time to get to your mat every day. Yoga philosophy, in The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, says that one should engage in regular (daily) practice with earnestness and respect over a long period of time. Even 10 minutes a day can be enough to see some improvement in flexibility, mood, focus, stress level, etc. Every student graduating from our teacher training program must document his/her own practice for three continuous months. Many of the students find this challenging, with the other demands of daily life. But once they're into the routine, and see the many benefits, they appreciate having made the commitment. The best time of day to practice is whenever it fits into your schedule, however, early morning is often considered a good time because the mind is generally calm and you haven't been swept up in the day's busy-ness yet. Sunrise yoga with Teri on Wednesdays: If you've been thinking about starting a morning practice, but need a little bit of motivation, join us on Wednesday mornings at 7:00 am for a gentle guided sunrise practice at the studio. Students who are registered in another class at the studio can always come and pay a $10 drop in fee for this 1-hour class. For the month of February, we are extending that offer to ANYONE who wants to give this class a try. No yoga experience is necessary. Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program

Learn practical ways to manage stress through mindfulness.
THIS PROGRAM starts on Tuesday, February 5, 2013. Don't miss the opportunity to take part in this potentially life-changing program, at an incredible cost. Our aim is to make the program affordable to all, so we are offering it at $200 (sliding fee scale is also available if that is too much). Costs for the program are set by the instructor and hosting organization, and can vary greatly and be as much as $1500.00 or more. Register now to learn practical ways to deal with stress on a daily basis.
MindfulnessBased Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an 8 week program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D. at the Center for Mindfulness in Massachusetts (US) in 1979. Sincethen, the program has been taught in hospitals, health care centres, yoga studios, private clinics and other places, all over the world.

Yoga for Children and Teens
|
Yoga for children 5-8 on Saturdays from 9:00 - 9:45 a.m.
Yoga for children 9-12 on Saturdays from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
Yoga for teens 13-19 on Mondays from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.
You can join us anytime in the term. Cost will be prorated for the remaining number of classes.
A reminder that the teen class scheduled for Monday, February 4 will take place on Thursday, February 7 instead.

300/350 Hour Advanced YTT - Staggered start dates - September, 2013 for graduates of other 200-hour yoga teacher trainings; January, 2014 for graduates of Wavelengths' 200/225 hour Yoga teacher training. Details will be available soon.
Yoga Immersion Intensive - September 2013 - December 2013. One weekend a month. We will cover postures, breathing, yoga philosophy and putting together a balanced yoga practice among other topics. For serious students of yoga who want to learn more than regular weekly classes allow.
