GETTING HOTTER

Sun and thermometer The International Islamic Climate Change Symposium brought together Muslim academics, activists, Imams and community leaders from all over the world to discuss the adverse impact of climatic changes on the planet earth. Together they authored the first Islamic Declaration on Climate Change as a reference and resource for Muslims. To read more, click here, here and here.
The Shura Council has been an active member of Interfaith Power and Light and works closely with the Greening Masajid project of ISNA's Masjid Development Network. In addition,the Shura Council also contributes to and benefits from the work of Green Muslims and Green Faith.  
During this past Ramadan, a representative of the Shura Council participated in the Young Leaders Climate Conference in Rome and Imam Mustafa Umar, Chair of the Shura Council's Religious Committee, responded to the Pope's encyclical on environment. Click here to listen to his interview on NPR.

News  The Islamic Shura Council's quarterly leadership meeting was held at the Chino Valley Islamic Center this past Saturday that brought together about one hundred Masjid and community leaders including Imams. Click here to see the pictures.

The Shura Council's Majlis and its General Body approved the merger of the Islamic Speakers Bureau (ISB) into the Shura Council as one of its projects. Welcoming the ISB into Shura Council family of services, the Chairman, Dr. Muzammil Siddiqi applauded their educational programs and prayed that they be rewarded abundantly for their years of volunteering. Moving forward, the Shura Council's Speakers Bureau invites interested candidates to apply for the position of program coordinator to help this program grow throughout Southern California. More details about the merger of Islamic Speakers Bureau into the Shura Council will be shared shortly.

The Shura Council congratulates the Chino Valley Islamic Center (CVIC) for initiating the process to acquire five acres of land to build a brand new Masjid from the ground up.
