SEERAH CONFERENCE
|
The Shura Council applauds the Islamic Society of Orange County for organizing its 2015 Seerah Conference, featuring prominent scholars and community leaders.
The conference will be held at the sprawling complex of ISOC from the eve of Friday, April 24th to the eve of Saturday, April 25th. Special programming is made available for children and youth along with a bazar and a mini food festival for everyone. We encourage the community to participate at this important event to learn and enjoy at the same time

The Shura Council appreciates Masjid Omar al Farouk for organizing couple of informative and educational programs. Dr. Sana Khan of IIOC and Sr. Duaa Alwan of ISOC debate the merits of Masjid governance by a membership elected governing board versus a self-appointed board. Earlier in the week, IIOC also organized a community teach-in about the Countering Violent Extremism program by the Obama administration.
The Shura Council's Prison Outreach Program Director, Imam Abdul Hafiz, was invited by the Bureau of Prisons to train its chaplains about Muslims and Islam. Imam Abdul Hafiz is one of the senior most and now retired Supervisory Chaplain of the Bureau of Prisons.
The Shura Council congratulates both Dr. Abdelhafid Djemil for being elected as the new Chairman of the Majlis Ash-Shura of New York and Sr. Sheryl Siddiqui for her election as the Chair of the Islamic Council of Oklahoma. The Shura Council maintains an open line of communication with these sister organizations serving their respective communities in the States of New York and Oklahoma.
