CALIF. JAILS AND MUSLIM INMATES
The State of California spends $60,000+ per year/per inmate incarcerated in our jails while our state spends less than $10,000 per student/per year on education. This simple math reveals our misplaced priorities. The symposium on November 15 will bring together interfaith partners working in the California Justice system, Chaplains of various faiths as well those who have served in the California Jail system to share their perspectives.
The Chairman of the Shura Council, Dr. Muzammil Siddiqi will present an Islamic perspective on serving the incarcerated and the Director of the Prison Outreach Program, Imam Abu Ishaq Abdul-Hafiz will present the program's objectives, accomplishments and plans, moving forward. The Shura Council is grateful for the community's extraordinary support toward this program and invites everyone to join us on Saturday Nov. 15th between 10 am and 2 pm. Active volunteers will also be recognized at this event.
