The Islamic Shura Council is pleased to announce its 12th annual Open Mosque Day on Sunday Oct 19th through out Southern California. While more details will follow soon, we request our friends and interfaith partners to save Sunday, Oct. 19th for Open Mosque Day. The Islamic Shura Council is working on producing a video news magazine about our communities. While we are developing the content, we invite the community to suggest a name for this video program. Please send your suggestions to info@shuracouncil.org. The winner whose program name is chosen will receive a special prize.
This past Friday, the Islamic Center of South Bay celebrated its groundbreaking ceremony with the community. Dr. Muzammil Siddiqi, the Chairman of the Islamic Shura Council delivered the Friday sermon and spoke to the community before the groundbreaking ceremony. Los Angeles based activists of all faiths and traditions joined hands and successfully stopped an Israeli ship from docking at the Los Angeles port. This peaceful action was in solidarity with and in response to a call made by the Palestinian and South African labor and trade unions.
