Shukr, he says is an important Islamic principle and those who practice it are most loved by God. In some instances, the Quran equates Shukr with faith. For example, "the faithful are those who are thankful to God and to people." God has described His Prophets and Messengers among those whose hearts were in deep gratitude to their Creator. Prophet Noah was a grateful servant of God (Quran 17:3). Prophet Abraham used to thank God for His many blessings (Quran 16:121). Prophet David and his family were asked to be grateful to God (Quran 34:13). And, God asked Prophet Muhammad: Worship God, and be of those who give thanks. (Quran 39:66).
