Our Feature in Stimuli Magazine!
Carrie's backyard was recently featured in the spring issue of Stimuli Magazine, a local lifestyle publication. Here's a snippet:

A Meal to Remember

There is nothing ordinary or typical about a spring meal celebrated wit the Thachuk family. Carrie, The proprietor of The Passionate Home, and her husband Mike, have transformed a basic suburban lot into an idyllic oasis. A lover of all things vintage and a staunch "re-purposer", Carrie finds beauty in the unwanted, transforming pieces into highly sought-after items.

Chalk Paint™ Colour of the Month

Henrietta

In honour of the Daily Mail's report that Annie Sloan has sent three sample colours - all in the pink family - to the Duke & Dutchess of Cambridge for their new baby's nursery, we're celebrating all things pink.

As written by Sebastian Shakespeare for The Daily Mail

"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's imminent second child is a girl, if the usual merry-go-round of rumours is to be believed.

Reasons for this speculation range from the faintly plausible (Kate has being spotted shopping for pink baby clothes) to the downright dubious (Kate is sporting a 'fuller face' and 'more rounded hips' than during her previous pregnancy.)

But here's one intriguing piece of intelligence I have garnered which, surprisingly, might actually lend credence to the rumours.

I am told that Oxford interior design company Annie Sloan has recently supplied three decidedly feminine paint samples to Anmer Hall, the ten-bedroom house on the Queen's Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, which is currently home to the expectant couple."

So...if you or someone you know is expecting a baby girl, Henrietta is the colour fit for a princess!

On My Mind...

It's March 28th and it is a beautiful, sunny, yet crisp day. Today is not just any other day - today has been excitedly anticipated and counted down on our calendar on the fridge for months.

The brochure in front of me says "It's About You!" The Elder on the stage said "It's About you!" Yet, I am very aware that this special day is NOT all about me, but rather about my incredible daughter, Laurel, and every other student in the room.

Today we are at the 10th Annual Thompson Rivers University Undergraduate Research and Innovation Conference. What this really means is that the time has come...I mean really, how much can a parent take? Didn't these kids just get their drivers licenses? Am I really the only mother crying in a room of 300 people? Does my daughter really want to experience living on campus? What is wrong with living at home? I opened the brochure sitting on my lap and the first thing I read is "Where will TRU take you?" I know university will take Laurel to many amazing places, other than Kamloops, as she is joining the Faculty of Adventure, Culinary Arts and Tourism. Well, that does sound kind of interesting but deep down I am yelling "TRU is taking her away from home"!  I turned the page again and I read "Discover your opportunities," and oh my, this book is just filled with opportunities, including the one she is really focused on...studying abroad! Does she realize that "abroad" is even further from home than Kamloops? One more page..."It's your time!"  As I look around this room filled with young, eager minds and their parents...I realize that it is all of "our time".  An amazing time for our kids to spread their wings and a difficult time for us as parents to let them fly. New ideas and dreams take flight in this place and a new journey begins for us all! My hope is that Laurel's journey will bring her home every once in a while - they do come home to visit, right?

As these young people begin to create and live on purpose, I realized that we too as parents can make changes to focus or redirect our life so that each day we can be filled with excitement and challenge as we work towards the life of our dreams. It is never too late, so let's make today your special day too! Xo
