Applications for Pre-K Lottery now available; state expands opportunities

Ready to Learn to operate three Pre-K classrooms

With the expansion of the state's Pre-kindergarten Program, Ready to Learn will operate a third classroom in 2015/16. This third room will be operated with and at Heritage Park YMCA Early Learning Center in Pawtucket, the site of one of our current Pre-K classrooms. Our classroom at the Community College of Rhode Island in Providence will continue to be part of the program as well.

Nine cities and towns will have one or more classrooms next year: Central Falls, Cranston, East Providence, Newport, Pawtucket, Providence, Warwick, West Warwick, and Woonsocket. If you live in one of these communities and you have a child who will be 4 by September 1, this is an extraordinary opportunity for a free, high-quality pre-kindergarten experience.

Children are chosen by lottery. Families can apply online or they can pick up an application at any Pre-kindergarten Program. They can also download applications in English or Spanish here. Families are encouraged to apply at more than one site if multiple sites exist in the city or town where they live. Applications will be accepted through June 1, and the lottery will be held the following day.
