Next Barton Child Law and Policy Center Child Welfare Legal Academy -- Oct. 28

Barton Child Law and Policy Center presents its next Child Welfare Legal Academy, Tuesday, October 28, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the State Bar of Georgia.

This session will continue to explore the theme of openness in the child welfare system by closely examining several composites of child welfare cases.  Richard Griffiths, Senior Editorial Director, CNN, will serve as interlocutor for a Fred-friendly panel.   Different Georgia child welfare professionals will be asked to play their roles of a mandated reporter, an intake worker, an investigator, a child welfare agency attorney (or SAAG) and a Juvenile Court Judge for two "ripped-from-the-headlines" scenarios.

The panelists will be asked to describe what their professional responses would be to the imaginary "facts" of each scenario.  This discussion will include responding publicly when the wrong "call" is made resulting in tragedy.

Wednesday's Child Georgia

Wednesday's Child, sponsored by the Dave Thomas Foundation For Adoption, is a weekly television feature about adoption that helps find permanent, loving, adoptive families for children in foster care.

Wednesday's Child Georgia is a partnership of the Georgia Department of Human Services, Dave Thomas Foundation For Adoption  and Fox 5 TV - Atlanta.

One of the most important things faith communities can do for children is to pray for them.

Every child is a child of God.  All children deserve justice, compassion and our prayers.

ICM encourages every faith community to become a spiritual witness for children. Hold a worship service in your church, synagogue, masjid / mosque or temple and invite others to join in praying for the well-being of all children.
