ICM's "Hour of Unity" Luncheon - Sept. 11

Register: ICM's "Hour of Unity" Luncheon

On the morning of September 11, 2001, some 400 persons from various faith traditions gathered in unity and harmony at ICM's first prayer breakfast.  Since that time, ICM has worked to create a state of well-being for Georgia's children.

On September 11, 2013, we are holding our first "Hour of Unity" luncheon for an interfaith dialogue on child advocacy in Georgia. The luncheon will be held at 12:30 p.m. in the social hall of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, 2089 Ponce de Leon Avenue, NE, Atlanta, GA 30307.

Register today -- last chance! Seating is limited.

-  Presentation on the state of children in Georgia;

-  Panel discussion on and how faith communities are working together to be a part of the solution;

-  Dramatic reading of "Wandering Wind" by the Mohammed Schools of Atlanta.

Though we have made significant progress, there is much more to do to improve the lives of Georgia's children.

Please join us at ICM's signature annual event and fundraiser, which brings together hundreds from Georgia's interfaith community (including faith leaders, educators, community leaders, elected and civil service officials). We celebrate the interfaith community and the work that we have done and can do together to advance the well-being of each child.

The keynote speaker for the event is Rev. Dr. Joanna M. Adams, Co-founder of Higher Ground; Pastor Emerita, Morningside Presbyterian Church; Interim Senior Pastor First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta.

Why do we gather?

Did you know that since 2002, Georgia's education budget has been cut by $7.6 billion?

Did you know that Georgia ranks...

-  40th in eighth grade math scores;

-  5th in the number of residents living in poverty; and

-  5th in the number of residents without health insurance?

What does this mean for Georgia's children and families if we're not able to speak on their behalf?

One of the most important things faith communities can do for children is to pray for them.

Every child is a child of God.  All children deserve justice, compassion and our prayers.

ICM encourages every faith community to become a spiritual witness for children. Hold a worship service in your church, synagogue, masjid / mosque or temple and invite others to join in praying for the well-being of all children.
