Juniors and seniors should report to room D20 by 7:45 am and 9th and 10th graders to room D11.

The library will be sending out overdue notices to student Gmail accounts every Sunday evening beginning February 14th. The notices will include overdue library books and textbooks. Students may renew overdue library books. If a student is no longer enrolled in a class, the textbook should be returned as soon as possible. Students with questions about their overdue books should talk to library staff.

Stanford Comes to M-A to Talk Sleep
M-A continues its long-standing Teen Sleep Program when students from Stanford's "Sleep and Dreams" class visit M-A on Tuesday, February 23 to present facts about teen sleep to freshmen. Volunteer M-A juniors act as ambassadors to the Stanford visitors that day. The M-A juniors travel to Stanford's Sleep Center for a lecture and tour, then attend a Stanford's "Sleep and Dreams" class on February 17. Finally, the ambassadors will create a sleep info program for Feel Good Friday on March 11. Ask your freshman student about it. Did you know the typical teen needs 9 hours of sleep a night?!

For Grade 9-11 Parents
In case you missed her visit to M-A last November, Maria Furtado, Executive Director of Colleges That Changes Lives (CTCL) is returning to our district at Sequoia High School on Feb. 18 to speak to students and parents about navigating the college search in her talk "Finding the Right Fit." M-A students and parents are welcome and encouraged to attend this engaging and informative presentation at Sequoia High School.
For Grade 10 & 11 Students and Parents
If you missed College Admissions Tests Information Night last Monday, I've made the presentation and all handouts available at the College/Career Center website. Additionally, our presenter, Bruce Reed, wrote answers to any additional questions that we were not able to finish up. You will be able to download his answers to those questions at the link above.
For All Parents
Occasionally, announcements from the College/Career Center may be sent to parents through Naviance, which is automatically populated with at least one parent's email address pulled from Infinite Campus. You can manually add yourself as a parent in your student's Naviance account. Log in, click on the "About Me" tab, click on "Profile," click on "Add New Parent" under the "parents" section. Type in your name and email address at minimum, and click on "Add Parent." Naviance also keeps a record of any emails sent to students through Naviance.
Need help logging into Naviance? For the email address, enter the student's ID# (don't include "@seq.org"). The password should be the same as their School Loop account. Though the Naviance account is linked to the student's email, it is meant to be shared as a family. Please talk to your student about logging in to Naviance. If the student is having difficulty logging into Naviance or their "@seq.org" email account, s/he should see a counselor or Ms. Nguyen in the CCC.

- Graduated Drivers Licensing (GDL) laws
- The Rules of the Road for teen drivers
- How YOU can stop the #1 killer of teens in America--reckless and distracted driving

Josephine Cotto and Christian Fioretti named to the San Mateo Daily Journal's Honor Roll
"Josephine Cotto, the Menlo-Atherton sophomore soccer midfielder, had an assist in the Bears' 3-2 win over Carlmont, and added a goal and another assist to help the Bears salvage a 3-3 tie with Burlingame - a game in which the Bears trailed three times. Christian Fioretti, Menlo-Atherton boys basketball senior guard, led the Bears to their 11th straight win, and 20th overall on the season, with a 16-point performance last Friday against Carlmont. The win clinched at least a co-championship for the Bears, who are undefeated in Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division play. Two days previous, Fioretti pumped in a season-high 20-points against Hillsdale."

The final drive to the title included 5 straight wins, with displays of non-stop pressure defense and balanced team scoring over Sacred Heart, 60-46, Hillsdale 64-41, Carlmont, in the closest game of the season 42-41, Burlingame 59-40, and finally, at Woodside 63-30. Top scorers during this stretch of excellence included Will Beasley pounding in 45, Jhavante Hill and his circus drives with 42, Colin Shen and his ultra smooth shooting stoke with 41, James "I don't play like a freshman" Beckwith throwing in 29, Miles "I can't be stopped" Conrad posting 24, Spencer "I guess I can score" Corona with 22, Jeff "I never saw a three that I didn't like" Keare firing in 15 from distance, and Aaron Letvin, Brendan MacLaughlin, Dean Fratt, Chris Lobdell, Julian Verbo, Troy Sweetnam, and Ingold Faleofa, all putting in the buckets, the rebounds, the defense, and the attitude that the Bears carried all season. Congratulations to the team, the coaches, the supporters, and the fans on another League Championship for our JV Boys!
The M-A boys freshman basketball team continued their exciting season winning 5 of 6 games from January 23 through Feb 6, beating Woodside, Aragon, Sequoia, Hillsdale, and Carlmont, and losing a close, non-league game to SHP. Danny Heimuli led the way with 12 points, followed by Heath Hooper with 10 points and 4 rebounds, and Grant Henry with 7 points. The next game versus Aragon pitted two teams that were undefeated in league play, and it was a tight game all the way, with M-A pulling it out at the end 44-43. Team highlights included 30 rebounds and 10 steals. David Kelmar led the way with 13 points, followed by Hooperwith 10 points and 5 rebounds, while Laeppaga contributed 7 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 assists. Heimuli led the way with 9 points and 4 rebounds, followed by Hooper with 8 points and 5 rebounds, and Lucas Olson and Anthony Marini each contributing 5 points. In the game versus Hillsdale, M-A led from start to finish, with a final score of 40-28. Hooper again led the way with 14 points, followed by Glader with 8 points, and Nate Lepulu with 5 points and 6 rebounds. The final game versus Carlmont was a much-anticipated game after the nail-biting win that M-A pulled out earlier in the season. Although this game, too, started out close (tied 10-10 after the first quarter), M-A shifted into a higher gear and pulled out another hard-fought win 47-41 against a very good team.
