A series of "listening sessions" is being held over this summer and early fall in order to invite input from an array of parishioners regarding the needs of our 115-year-old Sanctuary. As has been explained in previous special editions of the Read All About It newsletter, our beloved church building is calling out for a tremendous amount of repair and updating. As described by Rev. Aime, these "listening sessions" are designed to give those who volunteer regularly in various ministries inside the Sanctuary an opportunity to provide comment regarding what works well and what can be improved.
The Sanctuary Preservation and Readiness Project will touch a number of needs of our Sanctuary, including addressing significant seismic weaknesses of the foundations and Bell Tower, usability issues including replacement of our failing pipe organ, creation of a Memorial Chapel and a chapel for children's and family ministry, and accessibility issues such as ADA-compliant restrooms, lowering our communion rail and upgrades to our lighting and sound systems.
"All parishioners are invited to any of the listening sessions listed below or to attend one of the monthly Sanctuary tours," stated Alyson Eyer-Delevett, chair of the Design Subcommittee, which is organizing the sessions. Check out the schedule below and if you'd like to participate or receive more information, just send an email to [email protected] or call the Church Office to sign up.
Three Sanctuary "user groups" have already met and discussed their needs for the Sanctuary's working areas, including the Altar and Flower guilds as well as the Vestry's Building and Grounds Committee.
We look forward to seeing you at any of the sessions - especially the afternoon of October 8 when all members of the parish are invited to weigh in on any aspect of the Sanctuary renovation project.
