Sanctuary Users Providing Input to Preservation, Renovation Effort
A series of "listening sessions" is being held over this summer and early fall in order to invite input from an array of parishioners regarding the needs of our 115-year-old Sanctuary.  As has been explained in previous special editions of the Read All About It newsletter, our beloved church building is calling out for a tremendous amount of repair and updating.   Click here to read a summary of the June Town Hall parish gathering

As described by Rev. Aime, these "listening sessions" are designed to give those who volunteer regularly in various ministries inside the Sanctuary an opportunity to provide comment regarding what works well and what can be improved.

The Sanctuary Preservation and Readiness Project will touch a number of needs of our Sanctuary, including addressing significant seismic weaknesses of the foundations and Bell Tower, usability issues including replacement of our failing pipe organ, creation of a Memorial Chapel and a chapel for children's and family ministry, and accessibility issues such as ADA-compliant restrooms, lowering our communion rail and upgrades to our lighting and sound systems.

"All parishioners are invited to any of the listening sessions listed below or to attend one of the monthly Sanctuary tours," stated Alyson Eyer-Delevett, chair of the Design Subcommittee, which is organizing the sessions.  Check out the schedule below and if you'd like to participate or receive more information, just send an email to [email protected] or call the Church Office to sign up.

Three Sanctuary "user groups" have already met and discussed their needs for the Sanctuary's working areas, including the Altar and Flower guilds as well as the Vestry's Building and Grounds Committee.

We look forward to seeing you at any of the sessions - especially the afternoon of October 8 when all members of the parish are invited to weigh in on any aspect of the Sanctuary renovation project.

All Saints Neighbors Invited To Learn About Project Plans
The Vestry and the parish leadership group coordinating the Sanctuary renovation project are inviting the entire church neighborhood to come to All Saints for an early evening BBQ dinner and briefing on the project plans.  We will have a social time for all neighbors on September 17 from 5:30 to 6:15 for fellowship and time to get acquainted.  Everyone will then move into the Sanctuary to hear Rev. Aime explain about the needs of the Sanctuary and potential impacts on the neighborhood.

Neighbors will be invited to ask questions and also to discuss the Church's plans for the interior of the Sanctuary.  We hope that this is the first of several ways that All Saints can become more fully in relationship with those who live around us in our neighborhood.  If you'd like to help with this event or would like to know more, just send an email to [email protected].
Permit Application Status: Bell Tower Removal and Rebuild Could Occur in Early 2016
As we've said in previous parish communications, the deconstruction and rebuilding of the All Saints Bell Tower is of the highest priority.  The lack of a foundation, cracks in the structural support areas and the lack of any internal support mean our beloved Tower is highly vulnerable in the event of even a minor earthquake.

The project engineer, Parker Resnick Structural Engineering, is preparing a final structural report focused on the Bell Tower with a list of its historical renovations as requested by our historical architects, which is required by the County.  All Saints will likely submit a request for a Substantial Conformity Determination for just the Bell Tower by late September, meaning that with the continued success in fundraising, work could begin shortly after the first of next year.
