EfM Info Meeting This Sunday in Parish House

Join Education for Ministry (EfM)mentor Robert Brown in the Parish House this Sunday after the 8 and 10 a.m. worship services for a preview and informational meeting about the EfM program. An overview of the program, including history, structure of the seminar, and seminar group life will be presented, along with study materials, texts and registration materials. Grab some coffee and a snack and join us for a group preview of a wonderful vehicle of Christian formation.

We Are God's Hands

From the moment we are baptized, we are called to ministry - to serve God and others. Here are some great opportunities for the younger members (under 18) of Christ to serve God and our community:
  • Serve lunch at Casa Esperanza homeless center in Santa Barbara Tuesday, August 25
  • Serve dinner to Isla Vista homeless Monday, August 31
  • Distribute free fruit and veggies in Carp Wednesday, August 26

You will feel good while doing good! David Boyd, [email protected], is the contact for more information.

Homecoming Potluck!
Homecoming is Sunday, September 13 - don't forget to sign up to bring a dish to share during our Homecoming Potluck on the patio. Sign up at the Information Table or call Anne at the Church Office: 969-4771. Please plan on bringing a dish that will feed 6-8 people.
Book Group meets next on Monday, September 14 at 6:00 p.m. for potluck and discussion in the Parish House. We will read Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett, a work of historical fiction regarding the building of a Gothic cathedral in twelfth century England at the time when Empress Maud and Stephen were fighting for the crown after the death of Henry I. For more information, contact Rev. Vicki, [email protected].

Take a Sneak Peak Behind the Scenes With A Sanctuary Tour Sunday, August 16!

As explained during our Town Hall, recent Bell Tower special edition, and special RAAI, our church is in need of some TLC. Sunday, September 20, there will be an opportunity for a behind-the-scenes tour of our sanctuary at the 8 a.m. & 10 a.m. services. If you are interested in taking the tour, just meet at the Bell Tower at either 9:15 a.m. or 11:15 a.m. Questions about the Sanctuary Readiness Project? Just email: [email protected].
Don't Miss The Fun in The Fall!
Fall brings so many exciting things...college football, seasonal delicacies (mmm...pumpkin spice lattes), and a full calendar of events at All Saints!

All Saints clergy, staff, and leadership have been busy the past month planning a number of wonderful events that will begin in the Fall. Stay tuned for more information on the upcoming Episcopal 101 classes and Adult Formation, Newcomers Reception, Blessing of the Animals, All Saint's Day, Advent Family Workshop, and St. Nicholas Day to name a few! This exciting season will begin with Homecoming Sunday on September 13th. We will rejoice in "coming home" after a summer or rest, relaxation, and adventure, and prepare ourselves and our families for the rhythm of life that accompanies a new school year, the back-to-work routine, and the flow of our liturgical calendar. On Homecoming Sunday our entire parish family will worship together and we will commission the Preschool and Sunday School teachers, and say a prayer for all our students beginning the new school year. Another important event in our life at All Saints will be Rev. Aimee Eyer-Delevett's installation as Rector. This is set for Saturday, October 3rd, at 10 a.m. with The Rt. Rev. Mary Glasspool presiding. A festive reception will follow. More details on all of the upcoming events will follow in the coming weeks.

A Year of Music, Fellowship, Food & Family

Beginning this Fall, all are invited to join in singing, dancing, eating, and generally having a great time, right here at All Saints!

Once each quarter, during the 2015-16 season, All Saints' Music Ministry will host an evening of family fellowship, food, live music and dance. All ages are welcome!

Fall Square Dance We'll begin with an old-fashioned Square Dance & BBQ. Accompanied by the sounds of American Bluegrass music, you and your family can SWING YOUR PARTNER and DO-SI-DO to your heart's content. Dance instruction will be provided that evening - so all levels of Square Dance are encouraged to pull on your cowboy boots!

Winter Sock Hop During the winter, we'll host a 50s Sock Hop. Fonzie, Richie and Joanie won't make it, but don't let that stop you! We'll celebrate the "Happy Days" of our lives together as an All Saints family.

Spring Irish Feis Next on the calendar will be an evening of Celtic food and dance. Scheduled near St. Patrick's Day, All Saints will host an Irish Feis (dance festival) complete with loud shoes, rhinestones, curly wigs and soda bread. Again, this will be an opportunity for all to learn, participate, east some great food and have a wonderful time together.

Summer Luau We'll close the season with an authentic summer Luau. Bring your grass skirts, leis and "loud" shirts. We'll learn how to dance the hula and eat roast pig, poi and shave ice.

These events will be designed to include absolutely all ages. Stay tuned for specifics on dates and times, and get ready for some fabulous family fun at All Saints this year!
New Date & Time for Weekly Bible & Babble
Bible & Babble will resume in the fall at a new time and on a new day. Beginning September 22, we will meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesdays in the Parish House for Bible Study and Potluck. Please join us for this time of discussion and fellowship. We study the upcoming scripture readings for Sunday based on the Revised Common Lectionary and use Keeping Holy Time edited by Douglas E. Wingeier. Please contact Rev. Vicki at [email protected] with questions.
All Saints' Recycled Reading Treats

Our rolling book carts offer a variety of gently used (very good condition, no marking, and no highlights) fiction, non-fiction, special interest, and children's books for sale for "goodwill offerings." Think "Library Book Sale." If a book sparks your interest, donate whatever you feel is in your price range. Books will be available on second and fourth Sundays of the month during Coffee Hour after each service. Proceeds will support our campus ministries.

Live Webcast of Installation of Bishop Michael Bruce Curry as the Presiding Bishop
The Holy Eucharist with the Installation of the 27th Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church, Bishop Michael Bruce Curry, will occur on Sunday, November 1 at noon Eastern at Washington National Cathedral. The installation will be available via live webcast. Click here to learn more.

Homecoming Sunday Kicks Off All Saints' Musical Season

On Sunday, September 13, All Saints will kick off the 2015-16 musical season during the annual Homecoming Sunday celebration. Everyone of all ages is invited to join in leading the 10 a.m. worship service. Children, teenagers and adults will gather before the service, open the service in the procession and join the choir in leading and singing the music of the day. The music will be familiar and accessible to even the youngest among us. Contact Steve at [email protected] for more information.

This Homecoming Sunday event will introduce a series of Family Sundays planned during the year. Family Sundays will feature music in worship that is easy to learn and fun to sing, and everyone is invited to join the choir in leading the musical worship. Details to come!
