Greetings!

Call for Lenten Dedications

Dedications are available for the succulents that are part of our beautiful desert-themed Lent altar. Please sign up on the flower board on the patio to reserve a Sunday during Lent to dedicate the succulents in thanksgiving, memory, or in honor of someone or a special occasion. Your dedication will appear on the cover of the bulletin for your specified Sunday. The cost is $35. You may also contact Anne at the office (969-4771). There is also an opportunity to do the same during Holy Week and Easter for the altar display and music.
Family Feast and God, Music & Fun
THIS Sunday, March 1!
FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN!

This Sunday
is the first Sunday of the month! Children of all ages and their parents are invited to join together in the Parish Hall at 10 a.m. for "Family Feast," a service of worship and communion designed especially for families with children and teens. Immediately following Family Feast, we will move into God, Music & Fun, a special music program designed to help children and families explore God through music. See you this Sunday in the Parish Hall! Contact the
Rev. Vicki Mouradian at [email protected] for more information.
Lent at All Saints
As you may have noticed, our sanctuary and altar look different this season. The flowers have been replaced with succulents and river rocks to remind us of an arid desert. This is because the season of Lent offers us a gracious opportunity to examine our lives in order to identify where we fall short so that we can turn our wills back toward God, whose nature is always to have mercy. Lent is an occasion to consider our spiritual health and deepen our spiritual lives. We do this by choosing well our Lenten disciplines that lead us more deeply into a relationship with God and one another. This Lent, All Saints offers many opportunities to deepen your walk with Christ. Through seasonal opportunities for worship, devotion, and study, we hope you will find yourself not only willing but able to please God and participate more fully in the work of God's kingdom.

Eventide During Lent

As we enter the season of Lent, I'm reminded of the words of Oscar Wilde, in his De Profundis (out of the depths):

Out of the depths I cry to thee, O Lord!

Lord, hear my voice!

Let thy ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications!

The holy season of Lent bears with it poignant symbols for the Church, including;

Water and Bread

Thirst and Hunger

Light and Darkness

Nakedness and Clothing

Suppression of Alleluia

Our weekly Eventide service is a time where the All Saints' Community of God's friends gathers to pray, share, sing, rejoice and become, as God calls us. Modeled after the ancient Vespers Office, the service revolves around ancient symbols, interpretive "windows" into the presence of the transcendent God. Everyone is invited to the Wednesday 6:00 p.m. Eventide, as we experience the ancient symbols and retell the ancient stories of this Holy Season of Lent.

Psalm Written by 2015 Confirmands

During her visit, Bishop Jardine Bruce invited everyone to pray the psalm written by this year's confirmands as part of our Lenten discipline.

As the deer longs for the water-brooks
so longs my soul for you, O God.
I long to have your guidance,
all my working hours.
Help me O Lord,
to be loving and helpful to all.
My soul is uplifted,
in the warmth of your love, O Lord.
Lift my soul to the light, dear Lord.
As the deer longs for the water-brooks
so longs my soul for you, O God.
As a dog longs for his master,
I long for direction from Christ.
Help me, my God, to be your servant in our time.
As the deer longs for the water-brooks
so longs my soul for you, O God.
The Lord is my shepherd,
and I will do his will.
The trees of the forest reach toward heaven.
Love blooms in the warmth of the sun
And the cool of the rain, O God.
My heart sings the song of your truth and love,
mindfulness and gratitude are imperative.
For I am your own beloved heir of salvation
I thirst for you O Lord, parched is my heart.

New Exhibit in Church Office:

Hannah Stevens Allen

Born in Santa Barbara, Hannah studied in Norton, Massachusetts and Ireland. While in Ireland, she discovered her love for oils and chose to explore the medium in her Senior Arts Exhibit at Weaton. After graduation, Hannah moved to Boston where she continued her exploration of the oil medium. The brisk and vibrant colors that she discovered in the changing seasons of New England quickly influenced her pallet. She utilized her exploration of color to display her whimsical youthful sense of humor, hoping to assist viewers to reconnect with her inner child. Hannah has recently returned to Santa Barbara and is currently undergoing a change in her process and content stylistically, and she is thrilled to be given the opportunity to assemble and display some of her older work of cityscapes and bright animal personalities for All Saints.

Please come see the gorgeous paintings of the most talented Hannah! (Those Allens are a gifted bunch!)
