This Sunday's Readings:

January 1, 2015
Greetings!

Join in a New Year Toast & Piata Party, Sunday!

As we embark on the New Year together, we have much to be thankful for and to celebrate! Let's toast our blessings and our bright future at All Saints with a champagne and (equally as festive) sparkling juice toast after both the 8 and 10 a.m. services this Sunday, and for the children, we will have a piata party in the playground after the 10 a.m. service! ALL are invited as we are so blessed to be able to serve God and the world together in 2015!
Family Feast Resumes on February 1

On the first Sunday of each month, children of all ages and their parents are invited to join together in the Parish Hall at 10 a.m. for "Family Feast," a service of worship and communion designed especially for families with children and teens.  Family Feast resumes in 2015 on Sunday, February 1.  Please note there is no Family Feast or Sunday School this Sunday, January 4.

Sunday School is offered for children Preschool through 8th grade at 10 a.m. during the remaining Sundays each month. Childcare is offered each Sunday for children under 3 years. Sunday school will resume next Sunday, January 11 for all ages. Contact the Rev. Vicki for more information about family & youth ministries at All Saints.

Confirmation Classes Begins Next Week
Confirmation classes will begin on Wednesday, January 7 in preparation for the February 22 visit of Bishop Diane Jardine Bruce. Those who have been baptized are welcome to participate in this journey. Anyone who has already been confirmed but wishes to formally reaffirm their faith, or those confirmed in different Christian denominations but wish to be formally received into the Episcopal Church are welcome to participate as well. Classes will be held on the following Wednesdays: January 7, 14, 21, 28, February 4 & 11 in the Parish House from 7:15 - 8:45 p.m. (At least four of the six classes must be completed in order to be confirmed.)  Sign up at the Information Table on the patio, or contact the Rev. Vicki.
Wise Women to Host Ted Talk, January 11
Wise Women (and men) will meet next Sunday, January 11 after the 10 a.m. service in the Parish Hall for Ted Talk by Andrew Solomon, "How the worst moments in our lives make us who we are."  Writer Andrew Solomon has spent his career telling stories of the hardships of others. Now he turns inward, bringing us into a childhood of adversity, while also spinning tales of the courageous people he's met in the years since. In a moving, heartfelt and at times downright funny talk, Solomon gives a powerful call to action to forge meaning from our biggest struggles. Barb Toumayan will lead us in discussion after this Ted Talk. All are welcome!

All Saints Parishioners Help Spread the Spirit of Christmas to Our Community

All Saints parishioners shared their loving generosity this Christmas so that some of our neediest neighbors felt God's blessing and love. Cleveland Elementary School children and their families received gift cards for clothes, shoes, and food totaling $1,770; twelve Noah's Anchorage youth in need received gifts that included warm clothing, shoes, and weekly planners; and 28 residents of Victoria Hotel will receive hot meals thanks to more than $700 in restaurant gift cards. Thank you so much to all who gave from so freely from your heart to that others might feel God's blessing. Click here to read more.

ASBTS Book Club Will Meet Monday, January 12

The All Saints Book Club meets again on Monday, Jan. 12 at 6:00 p.m. in the Parish House. This month's selection is The Gospel of Luke, one of the books of the New Testament.  Please join us! This book was chosen by the group for its appropriate and encompassing narrative of the birth of Jesus during this time of Advent and Christmas, and God's intention for his life.  A great translation is offered by the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) which we hear from the pulpit and is the appointed translation for seminarians and Education for Ministry Students.  If you have another translation that you favor, please do not feel that you need to acquire the NRSV for this gathering!  A suggested reading pattern would be to first read Luke straight through; then read a second time with an annotated Bible which provides footnotes and commentary; and thirdly, if you are so inspired, read it with a companion book of commentary.  Our evening will include a potluck dinner, fellowship, and book discussion.  Please contact Rev. Vicki if you have any questions.
