December 18, 2014
Greetings!

There is still room for all who wish to join our special tour of Casa del Herrero tomorrow! The Casa del Herrero, designed by architect George Washington Smith and completed in 1925, is noted as one of the finest examples of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture in America. We will meet at ASBTS at 1:15 pm and carpool to Casa del Herrero for a tour; docents and fellow parishioners Sally Green and Lore Dobler will be our guides. A Christmas tea will follow our tour. Classes will be held on the following Wednesdays: January 7, 14, 21, 28, February 4 & 11 in the Parish House from 7:15 - 8:45 p.m. (At least four of the six classes must be completed in order to be confirmed.) Relive the Christmas Pageant - Photos on Flickr

Wow! What a tremendous Christmas Pageant the children put on! You could certainly see how hard they all worked. We are so appreciative! There were even murmurings around the patio that this year's pageant may have been the best one yet! Relive the day by visiting our Flickr page.

Outstanding Giving Tree Results for
Cleveland School Children

Thanks to your loving generosity, gift cards for clothes, shoes, and food totalling $1,770 were delivered to Cleveland Principal Dr. Cynthia White for parents of Cleveland children in the school's most needy families. What a wonderful feeling to give to those in need!

Please remember, if you selected a tag for a Victoria Hotel resident, the deadline to return your gift card is this Sunday, Dec 21. Please help us meet this deadline so that we can be sure they can be delivered to those who need them. You can drop them off at the Giving Table after church or at the Church Office tomorrow. Click here to learn more about this important outreach effort. Contact Susan Evans, 969-1380 or David Boyd, 969-2710 with any questions.

Coming in January: "Behind the Scenes" Sanctuary Tours, Update on Readiness & Preservation Project

Dust off your touring shoes! Beginning in January, you'll be able to par ticipate in a "behind the scenes" tour of the Sanctuary, including a peek behind the altar, inside the pipe organ, around various working areas and even in the hidden basement! We'll also provide an update on all the proposed repairs and updates envisioned as part of the All Saints Sanctuary Readiness and Preservation Project.

We will have updated information from the Town Hall meeting from last Spring, so watch for opportunities to sign up. Tours will take place after both the 8 and 10 a.m. services as well as before Wednesday night Eventide. Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks!

End of Year Signifies Time of Giving

As we close out 2014, we all seem to be in the spirit of giving. This means not just to friends and family, but also to the organizations that mean so much to each of us throughout the year. Your Budget and Finance Committee is readying the 2015 spending plan and wants to remind everyone that paying your current year pledge as well as sending in your commitment for 2015 is an important step in your spiritual journey. It's also an important aspect of being active and loving members of the parish. The Church Office will be open until noon on Christmas Eve, again on Dec. 29, 30 and until noon on Dec. 31 to assist you with any end-of-year questions.

Each year we have parishioners who benefit from contributing appreciated securities or other assets instead of selling first and then donating the proceeds as a way of making your end-of-year pledge or a special contribution to All Saints. You can avoid paying capital gains taxes on those assets and enable more money to be donated. Below is an excellent example of how we can all benefit from donating stock vs. cash. Please see your own tax advisor for details.

An Invitation to Serve: Community Kitchen

Have you noticed Community Kitchen is listed on our calendar every Tuesday? Did you know Community Kitchen is a ministry in which all are welcome to serve? Three Tuesdays a month at 10:30 a.m., volunteers from All Saints meet at the Community Kitchen in Casa Esperanza a sobriety-based emergency homeless center located at 816 Cacique Street to prepare and serve lunch to the residents. More information about this ministry contact Walt Clapp or David Boyd

Church Has Been Greened & Looks Beautiful!

Last night, after Eventide and a delicious chili supper, dozens of parishioners came together to green the church! Sally Messerlian lead the wreath makers in making 20 gorgeous wreaths and Andy Rosenberger lead the whole crew as the "Greening Captain" to wonderful effect. Thank you to those who shared their evening in fellowship and service. The church looks beautiful!
Church Office Closed for Christmas, Limited Hours Through New Year
The Church Office will close at noon on Wednesday, December 24 and reopen with limited hours on Monday, December 29. Please be sure to call or email Kathleen if you have business matters during that week. Regular business hours will resume Monday, January 5.
Join In A Christmas Lunch!

Couples, singles, and families, if you find that you will be on your own for Christmas lunch, please consider joining your All Saints family for a festive meal at 11:30 a.m. following the Christmas Day worship service at 10:30 a.m. Learn more here. Questions? Contact Rev. Vicki.
The Victoria Hotel is a residential hotel for the aged and low-wage or disabled workers. Volunteers are needed to take turns helping Bernie, the night manager of Victoria Hotel, pick up dinners prepared in the Community Kitchen at Casa Esperanza and deliver them to Victoria Hotel for the residents. Volunteers from All Saints provide transportation to Bernie on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:00 p.m. This ministry takes so little time, but means so much to the residents of Victoria Hotel who depend on these dinners. If you would like to help, please email David Boyd.
