Greetings!

This Saturday, we will remember God's love for all creation through the devotion of St. Francis and his love of all creatures great and small.  We extend our love to all creatures as well, but on this special day we especially honor our pets this day with music, blessing, and treats.

The Blessing of the Animals, a time honored tradition remembering St. Francis of Assisi, will be celebrated at All Saints tomorrow at

11:00 a.m.  Please join us on the patio as we ask God to bless our beloved pets who have joined our families and touched our hearts. We'll sing and rejoice together.

As you will see in the article below, following our service there will be coffee and treats for pets and their owners. All pets are welcome, but we ask that dogs remain on their leashes and cats, birds, reptiles, bunnies, etc. remain in their cages.  All are welcome, so bring your friends and neighbors!

Peace,

Vicki Mouradian

Interim Associate Rector

Let's Gather for Peace!

Annual Interfaith Sukkah for Peace

Sunday, October 12 at La Casa de Maria

The Sukkah was a temporary shelter built as the Jewish people walked for 40 years through the desert. The lesson of the holiday teaches us that our security and the path to peace lie not in any structure but in the journey we take together with our neighbors and friends, and in the relationships we build.

Join us on Sunday, October 12 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. as we gather with the Community Shul of Montecito and Santa Barbara along with others from our interfaith community for the Annual Interfaith Community Celebration of Peace and Dialogue under the Sukkah of Peace. This special family gathering celebrates the Jewish harvest festival holiday of Sukkot in an interfaith way. Together we will celebrate the bountiful gifts the earth has given us, in ceremony, prayer, and dialogue.

Please journey with us.

Enjoy music, singing, folk dancing, and great discussion. Drinks and paper goods will be provided. Please bring a vegetarian or dairy main dish, or salad, or dessert to contribute to the celebration.

The celebration will be held on Sunday, October 12 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Shalom Garden at La Casa de Maria. Please enter La Casa at 888 San Ysidro Lane.

Last Call For Photos for ASBTS Directory!

More than half the congregation has had their photo taken for our directory! However, not everyone was able to have their photos taken in the
Spring.  If you missed out, you're in luck - we will have the opportunity to have your picture taken on either Sunday, October 19 or Sunday, October 26.  Stay tuned for information on exact times and campus location for these photography sessions.  If you already had your photo taken, you do not need to do it again.  If you aren't sure, please call the office and Kathleen will be happy to check the roster.

Marni McGee to Guest Preach Next
Sunday, October 12
All Saints is pleased to welcome Marni McGee next Sunday, October 12, as the first of two guest preachers during the month of October. She will preach at both the 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. services. Born in New Orleans, Marni grew up in Charlotte, NC. She earned a masters at Yale Divinity School. Her 21 books for children have been published in more than a dozen countries and languages. They include picture books, poetry, a middle-grade novel, and three volumes of history published by Oxford University Press and National Geographic. A member of All Saints since 1976, she was the author/editor of the Hundred-Year History of All Saints. In 2007, she founded the StoryFaire Literacy Program, sponsoring author visits to lower-income schools and a festival at De la Guerra Plaza. Please join us in welcoming Marni to the pulpit next week!
Giving Campaign Begins at All Saints
Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops. Proverbs 3:9

Money is a tool: a means of exchange. Used wrongly it can wound our souls and our communities. Shared, it can heal people and the earth, honoring God in the process. Generosity is the learning and teaching in which we as the Church are tasked to lead the world. Read more here.

Over the next several weeks, please look out for a special invitation postcard in your mailbox from the All Saints' Giving Committee inviting you to one of several luncheons in the Parish Hall. Your postcard will include the luncheon date and instructions on how to RSVP.  If you are unable to attend the luncheon date on your postcard, please contact Kathleen Winters at (805) 969-4771.

INFORMATION

The question is often asked, "How is All Saints' Mission supported?"

There is no specified and regular stipend for the Minister of this Mission, except a small amount from the Board of Missions. The Minister receives the offerings, from which he meets all expenses (such as Convention assessments, taxes, fuel, care of church, and all incidentals), and lives upon the remainder.

The income of the Mission comes from:

1. An appropriation from the Diocesan Board of Missions of $20 a month.

2. From a few stated subscriptions (of about $20 a month), and

3. From the offerings of the congregations and the gifts of friends.

Thus the Mission depends upon the Apostolic system of support as expressed by St. Paul in I. Cor. 9: 13, 14 : - Do ye not know, that they who minister about holy things live of the sacrifice; and they who wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? Even so hath the Lord also ordained, that they who preach the Gospel should live of the Gospel.
