May 15, 2014
Greetings!

As you know, this Sunday we'll be holding a Town Hall Meeting after the 10 a.m. service to discuss the latest plans for our Sanctuary Readiness Project.  This is the second such meeting we've held, and a lot of useful feedback came out of the last one.  I hope you'll attend in order to ask any questions and get clarity on the current plan, and if you can't quite visualize what's being proposed, we will be premiering a great new 'virtual' rendering of the space that should help make it all more clear

We all love our sanctuary space and we're all protective of it, but we have work that we can and should do now, and I hope you'll join your fellow parishioners in engaging this exciting plan to make All Saints ready for the next 114 years.

Senior Warden

Acclaimed Author, Theologian Diana Butler-Bass to Speak, Preach at All Saints!

On Saturday, June 14, internationally-renowned theologian Diana Butler Bass will visit All Saints-by-the-Sea to explore recent trends in religion and spirituality that are challenging traditional institutions and opening the way for new patterns of faith.

Instead of doom and gloom, she finds much to cheer in the changing face of American religious life - and will argue that churches, synagogues and other faith communities need to open their hearts and minds to embrace a hope- filled future. Diana will return to All Saints the following day to preach at both the 8 and 10 a.m. services.  For fee and sign-up information, just click below.

Volunteer Opportunity: Best Day Foundation

Best Day Foundation is an All Saints Outreach recipient that helps children with special needs build confidence and self-esteem through safe, fun, water activities like surfing and kayaking. Volunteers are needed for two upcoming Best Days: May 31 and June 1.  Parishioners of all ages and mobility are encouraged to come and check out the fun on Saturday to see if they'd like to return on Sunday to help.  There is a job for everyone.  Contact parishioner Heather Smith or click the link below for more details

Baptism Opportunity at Pentecost

Pentecost is right around the corner and it's the next time that we celebrate baptisms at All Saints. If you or someone you love wishes to be baptized on Pentecost Sunday, June 8, please contact Fr. Bob by Sunday, May 25, to let him know of your intentions.

There will be special liturgy and music that day to celebrate the birth of the church and the coming of the Holy Spirit.

Wise Women to Meet Again, May 25

Discernment Committee To Hit the Road

The Discernment Committee has completed Skype interviews, and now moves into the "visitation" phase of the process. The Committee has pared the original list of 22 to six exceptional candidates.

Committee members will visit clergy on their home turf to get a feel for how worship and liturgy is conducted, as well as some social and Q&A time with the candidate.

Committee members will report back and then our group will pare the list back one final time. Then, at a weekend retreat in ate summer, they will then give a final list to Vestry for their determination as to who will be our next Rector.

Vestry will then invite the finalists to visit Santa Barbara and will make a final determination as to which candidate most closely matches our requirements as outlined in the Parish Profile.
