Greetings!,

In my sermon on the first Sunday of Lent, I invited the congregation to consider every day, even during Lent, as a Sunday, a celebration of Christ's resurrection. That invitation is especially true as we gather this afternoon at All Saints at 2 p.m. to give thanks to God for the life and ministry of Kent Damon, and to celebrate Kent's transition into the nearer presence of that resurrection life. Resurrection is about the awareness that new life is emerging all around us... even in death. Kent was a man who believed in that new life, and brought that new life into the lives of those around him through his own life and witness.

We are people of the resurrection, witnesses to the possibilities that God is doing new and wonderful things in our lives. And so we give thanks... for Kent, and for that new life which God offers to each of us.

 Baptism Schedule Set For Easter
Easter is a traditional time for baptism in the Christian calendar and what more appropriate time could there be for a rite in which we declare that "all who are
baptized into the death of Jesus Christ your Son [will] live in the power of his resurrection." If you or someone you love wishes to be baptized this Easter, there are two opportunities for you to do so: the Children's Easter Vigil, 4 p.m. April 19 or Easter Sunday, 10 a.m. April 20. Please contact Fr. Bob by this Sunday, April 6, in order to be included in one of these opportunities.

9:30 a.m.    Saturday    April 12
Parishioner Mary Collier will lead all those interested in the making of palm crosses in the Parish Hall on Saturday, April 12.  The crosses will be distributed at the Palm Sunday services the following day.

Many hands make light work, and all are welcome to come and stay for whatever time you are able. Light refreshments will be provided.

 2013 Full Annual Report Released!

For the 2013 Annual Report, we set a challenge for ourselves to produce the most inclusive report we've ever produced, seeking input from every group, committee, guild and ministry that exists in All Saints today.  We did this with the knowledge that this report would likely be viewed by our next Rector as they enter into the Discernment process, and it would help them to know as much about us as possible.

At our Annual Meeting on February 23 we launched our Summary Annual Report for 2013, which included quotes and summaries from all these groups and a promise that the full version was on its way.  Today you can read the full version of our 2013 Annual Report by visiting our website, where you can also read reports from years past.

Family Feast and new Youth Group: this Sunday
   10 a.m.    Sunday    April 6

Celebrated in our Parish Hall, the Family Feast
service is held the first Sunday of each month and is specially geared to parents,
grandparents and children of all ages as they conduct and participate in this Holy Eucharist service.  It's great fun . . . no matter your age!
Check out a full photo slide show of a past Feast by clicking here.

With deep appreciation to our teachers and parents that are making it possible, we are launching a new Youth Group for 6-8th graders, which will meet on the first Sunday of each month during the 10 a.m. service and Family Feast.  Parishioners Megan Fuller, Michael Swift, and Alyssa Mueller, have agreed to be leaders of this exciting new group and we welcome them to this ministry!  Our Sunday School will be divided into the following classes on the remaining Sundays of each month: Pre-K, 1-3, 4-5, and 6-8.  May God bless this step forward for our children and youth ministry.

11:30 a.m.    Thursday    April 10

In recognition of All Saints' continuing outreach to low-income families living at the Carpinteria Camper Park over the years, Father Bob has been invited by Peoples' Self-Help Housing to offer a blessing at the start of construction for 43 new affordable apartment town homes that will rise on the former Camper Park site.

All Saints has supported the work of PSHH with both Outreach funds and the hands-on effort of many parishioners to deliver snacks for children in the after-school programs, rehab of the community bathrooms (with M4), prepare camper trailers to be moved, purchase and donate furniture to help Camper Park families move to apartments, and provide assistance on field trips for children in the summer programs.  Parishioners are invited to help celebrate this event at the construction site, 4096 Via Real from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 10. A light lunch will follow the program and tours will be offered.

Volunteers from area Episcopal Churches will work at a precinct in the chapel of St. Michael's University Church and Episcopal Campus Ministry at UCSB in the important Statewide Primary Election on Tuesday, June 3, 2014.  Volunteers will be providing a civic service and helping St. Mike's by donating their stipend to benefit the programs and services at the campus ministry. Isla Vista is where the election action will be, and you can be part of this happening. More details are available at the Information Table on Sunday.

  Outreach Golf Tournament - Update!
Monday    May 5

50 golfers have already signed up to take part in the Annual Jim Bower Community Outreach Golf Tournament, but we still need players: single, double, threesomes, and foursomes are all invited and if you don't play, we still need volunteers for the day of the tournament, Monday, May 5 (no knowledge of golf is necessary.)

We are halfway to meeting our matching grant of $12,500, generously given by the Bower Foundation.  This grant means that your donation dollars go twice as far.  Both small and large donations are needed in order for us to meet our goal, so please consider donating to help us meet our target.  Parishioners, family and friends of players can join us for the celebration after the tournament (4 p.m.) at the La Cumbre Country Club for $20.  Please click here for more information on the tournament or contact Mary Rosenberger to sign up to play.

New Look coming to "This Week" email...

The All Saints "Bell Tower" is an iconic symbol of the glorious and historic Christian community that is All Saints.

Be on the lookout for a new look and feel for this parish email.  You might just notice a new Bell Tower.

Help Support our Easter Music & Flowers
As always, Easter Sunday will be a wonderful celebration of new life at All Saints.  A festival atmosphere is in the air as worshipers gather to celebrate the risen Christ.  As part of this celebration, the altar will be decked out with beautiful lilies and we will welcome several special guest musicians.

Parishioners are invited to help support these efforts by contributing to the Easter Music & Flowers fund.  Donations of all sizes are welcome, and dedications ("in memory, thanksgiving, celebration of," etc.) will be printed in the Easter Sunday Read All About It insert.  Contact Anne Hopkinson for more details, or to give your dedication.

All Saints' History Coming to the Website!
All Saints' recent focus on updating our online presence is yielding the unexpected benefit of bringing some of our archives to life. We are digitizing old Annual Reports and posting them on the website. In addition, we now have almost 2,000 photos from the past several years uploaded to our Flickr photo stream. Check it out at flickr.com/photos/allsaintsbythesea.

All Saints by-the-Sea is celebrating Easter with a special brunch following the 10 a.m. Easter service on Sunday, April 20.  We invite those who wish to be with their All Saints family to hop over to the Parish Hall at noon following the Coffee Hour.  This will be a wonderful time of celebration and fellowship!  Brunch will be catered by our own Connie Lindberg so know you will be in for an Easter treat.  I heard that the Easter Bunny will leave us soft drinks, juices, and waters but feel free to bring wines and champagnes to share.  Friends and family are welcome!  Please sign up for this Easter occasion on the sign-up sheet at the information table or email the Rev. Vicki Mouradian at [email protected].  Suggested donation for this event is $20.00 per person.

 In Memoriam: Kent Damon
Parishioner Kent Damon died on March 22, and a service celebrating his life will be held today, April 3, at 2 p.m. at All Saints-by-the-Sea.  You can read Kent's obituary on the All Saints website.
