News From the StillPointe Staff April 9, 2013 |

Dear Patients and Friends:
Do you think we are actually heading into Spring after such a long, cold winter? I'm still waiting for the Mississippi River ice to go out by my house and to see the first signs of Spring, but we are already seeing the seasonal allergy and sinus symptoms. It doesn't seem fair, but it's here! Check out some solutions below.
We are adding some classes at the Good Earth Coop on the health value of using medicinal mushrooms. I have never found one product that supports EVERY function in the body as much as these herbs. Plus we now have the Zhi5 Flash available at StillPointe. This is an addition to the Zhi5 family that combines organic Arabica coffee, a blend of four healthy medicinal mushrooms, AND organic creamer and sugar, for a smooth, rich coffee experience that is GOOD for you. We have it on sale and for sampling at StillPointe this month.
Spring is also a great time to come in for a chiropractic visit. A spring tune-up can help you get ready for those outside projects and activities, to avoid injury and enjoy them more. We are still seeing people for falls from ice and car accidents. Make sure you come in for an assessment if you fall or have a collision. Sometimes the body reacts several weeks after the injury, but the effects can be long lasting and permanent. Getting in for treatment right away will speed up healing and prevent long-term scar tissue.
Yours in health,
Dr. Susan M. Saetre & the StillPointe Staff |

Nose Running?
Even though we still have snow on the ground, I have already noticed my own seasonal allergies are starting. And I have noticed the same in several patients this week. I'm seeing symptoms of allergies and sinus problems, including itchy eyes, nose or throat; sneezing; runny nose; tearing; nasal congestion; and headaches, especially in the frontal area.
Allergies are a hypersensitive (overactive) immune system responding to normal antigens in the environment. As trees and grasses bloom, along with changes in the weather, the immune system mistakes pollens and other substances for allergens, causing the allergic reaction.
At StillPointe, we have several ways to treat this problem:
- Chiropractic adjustments work with the immune system by releasing pressure and interference with the nerves that affect the head and neck. This, in turn, allows the immune system to work like it should to deal with allergens without causing an immune reaction.
- Acupuncture is very effective for treating both the cause and symptoms of sinus and allergies. In an Australian study, patients who received acupuncture twice a week for eight weeks reported that their symptoms improved by more than one-third and they used significantly less medication than those in a control group (Good Housekeeping, April 2008).
- Massage and CranioSacral Therapy, along with essential oils, are also very effective in relieving sinus pressure, opening nasal passages and creating drainage of sinus cavities.
 - We have many products available at www.prohealthspot.com
that will help with allergies and sinus congestion: D-49 Sinugen homeopathic, Nazanol, Sinuplex and Xyliseptic nasal spray are a few of them.
