BRE/Peter Brock Designs News Issue #038:

Finally... Goodwood Collectibles!

November 30, 2015

We thought our travel would end in October but it just kept going right through November. All for great projects though which included the Keno Brothers Auction. We'll cover that below. And even with being out we've finally pulled together the Goodwood pieces we've wanted to offer. It's been worth the wait.

We're also releasing the next model in my series of accurate 1:43rd scale Daytona Cobra Coupe models. Normally we wouldn't come out with a model so quickly after the last one but it's the holiday season and this model set is incredibly special so we couldn't wait to share it with you.  It involves Craig Breedlove and the Coupe that was the first car inducted into the Historic Vehicle Registration (details below).  In addition, there are about 20 models still left of CSX2299 winning at Le Mans '64 autographed by driver Bob Bondurant so get one now!

We have had such a fantastic year thanks to all of you. We wish you the very best of holiday seasons!

Finally... Our Goodwood Collectibles
Sometimes the best takes time!
Ever since the amazing Goodwood Revival of all six Daytona Cobra Coupes, we've been asked to offer something special from the event. It's taken a while to pull together what we wanted but we've now done it! First, let's start with this amazing work by photographer Neil Harniman. We had our own photos from Goodwood but when we saw Neil's nighttime masterpiece we knew nothing else would do. This image is captured by waiting until dusk and then putting a camera on a very slow exposure time and then someone walks around each object with a light stick. Sound like black magic? Neil has perfected the technique and we thank him for allowing us to offer this image to you.

We offer it in two formats. The first (above) is a museum quality giclee print on archival high cloth content paper that I have selected personally. This piece is a standard 20"x24" so it is easily framed and sports the title of "Together at Last" Designer Peter Brock and the six Daytona Cobra Coupes 50th Anniversary World FIA GT Championship 1965 Goodwood Revival 2015.

Only 50 pieces are available here, each numbered and autographed by myself.

The second offering is the image as a large 24"x36" poster which sports the same wording as the art but on poster paper with no border and wording placed on the image itself. Not limited or signed (although that is an option at checkout) it is a great piece to hang in a less formal environment. Go here to order the poster now.

With the brilliance of this art and capturing the most amazing experience I had of being with all six Coupes at once (for the first time ever) these are by far and away my most favorite collectible posters and art in a very long time and they make great gifts also.
Keno Brothers Auction
An Experience to Behold
Every detail was attended to, and more, at this first Automotive auction by the Keno Brothers. The experience started immediately as a person walked into an immaculate space and was handed a beautifully boxed writing pen and something that looked like a matchbox. When opened you'd discover it was your own personal player running one of many videos that were made of the cars up for auction. Holding the player you could even "feel" the revs of the car as this stunning video played in your hands.

Walking on, the entrance opened up to beautifully white draped rooms with stunning lighting with each car displayed on an elegant white platform. All of your senses were delighted.

The Symposium held the day before the auction was well attended and feedback was all positive. I spoke of my experiences but the highlight for me was to hear of Murray Smith's racing exploits. What an amazing set of cars this man has driven. He was a bit distracted as he tried to ignore the fascinating images of him going by on the screen as he had a message he wanted to share with the audience regarding his personal experiences with buying cars at auctions, ending with the summation that the Keno Brothers had created an auction with a conscience, thoroughly vetting and researching all the cars being offered and providing that research to interested purchasers.

We encourage you to experience a Keno Brothers automotive auction. The next one will be held at "The Elegance at Hershey" show June 11, 2016. Details can be found here.
Just released:The next 50th Anniversary Daytona model
Land Speed Record Breaker CSX2287 autographed by driver Craig Breedlove and much more!
First, we wouldn't normally come out with another model in this series so quickly after the previous model but it's the holidays and this is a really special package we just couldn't keep to ourselves.

This model set is so special that calmer heads would argue we should have saved it for last... but we aren't going to (-:   This model of CSX 2287 running at the Bonneville Salt Flats is amazing, and again accurate, even down to having the A-pillar "fences" on the car removed just as they were for the record attempts when Craig Breedlove (who has autographed the model, the archive photo and the Historic Vehicle Association schematic that is part of the Library of Congress documentation on the car) and co-driver Bobby Tatroe broke 23 land speed records in the Fall of 1965.

What's that HVA schematic you ask? Due to CSX2287's amazing history (it was the first Coupe to win a race (Sebring '64) and was the last Coupe in competition breaking 23 land speed records in November '65), it was the first car chosen by the Historic Vehicle Association and U.S. Department of the Interior to be recorded in the American Engineering Record (HAER) and the HVA's National Historic Vehicle Register.

That's what makes this model set so very special. In addition to the model, the archive photo and a description letter, this set includes a copy of the schematic/plot diagram that was made of CSX 2287 as part of the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Heritage Documentation (this is the large white document seen in the picture above).

This schematic is kept in the Library of Congress and now you will have your very own copy as part of this model package... and even better it is numbered and autographed by myself and Land Speed Record driver Craig Breedlove!

Only 50 (numbered) sets of this model package are being offered. The package contains the following items, with each displaying a matching numbered seal (e.g. 01/50, 02/50).
  • Model: This amazingly accurate and detailed 1:43rd scale model of CSX 2287 as it ran at the Bonneville Salt Flats numbered and autographed by driver Craig Breedlove.
  • Archive Photo: A high quality photo reprint of one of our archive photos showing Breedlove in CSX2287 giving feedback to the crew on the Salt autographed by Breedlove.
  • Detailed Description: A description written and autographed by myself describing what is unique about CSX 2287 as it ran on the Salt (e.g. livery, parts removed to increase speed, etc). You will be able to see all the items described on this detailed and accurate model.
  • HVA/Library of Congress Schematic: Only 175 of the schematics were made as part of Craig and my being honored at SEMA 2015 for the 50th Anniversary of this land speed record accomplishment. The schematics included in our set are numbered starting at 127/175 (e.g. 127/175, 128/175) for the event honoring myself and Breedlove. It also comes with the Peter Brock 50th Anniversary gold foil seal numbered to match the seal on the model (e.g. 01/50, 02/50), the archive photo and the description letter also included in this set.
Go here for this really special opportunity to get these documents and autographs. Also as we so recently released the second model set featuring the Le Mans '64 winning car with models and archive photo

Coming Up

An update to the schedule we previously released: If you went to the Riverside Museum website to get more details on the upcoming event in early February you found the website is under construction. Due to that and a few other logistics issues and that it's just a few months away from February, the next Legend event is being held over to 2016. We look forward to seeing you there then! In the meantime we hope to see you at the newly remodeled Petersen Museum in February.

Have a great holiday season!
