The biggest news we have to share these days is the launch of our new video series. After years of being interviewed by other people for their projects, the latest being the film on the history of Pebble Beach Road Racing, the interview with Jay Leno on my Corvette Sting Ray book and a couple more mentioned below that have hit the air in just the last couple of days, we thought we should capture some of our own history. We've split the series into three different areas: 1) Peter Brock's World, 2) the Speaker Series and 3) the Book Series (each is described in detail below).
A summer of taping has resulted in thirty short videos. None are intended to be full documentaries, just some interesting stories and information we think you'll enjoy. The first four have been posted (link below) with one to follow each week. We hope you enjoy them and look forward to your feedback. If well received, more taping will resume later this year.
Now on to the rest of the news,

New Fifty Years of Shelby Mustangs book
Special offers during pre-sale period
|
Just as we got done saying our biggest news is the video series, we have to let you know of a great new book that's coming out soon. Author, Colin Comer, has done it again. What his last spectacular, Shelby Cobra 50 Years, was to the Texan's snakes, this new book on Shelby Mustangs will make the perfect book end for any Shelby or Mustang enthusiast's library. Somehow Colin has come up with new, unseen historic photography as well as the latest images of fantastic perfect restorations, like those of the first production and racing versions of the GT350 Shelby Mustang. We provide greater detail on the book here including its generous size of 12" x 10" x 1.5" deep.
To celebrate this new book we are offering a few specials during this pre-sales period:
- First is that if you order the book before we receive our inventory (expected date 9/27) we will include with it a reprint of the first Shelby GT350 Mustang ad I created in 1965, signed by me. That will come automatically with your book when it ships the end of this month.
- An additional option is that we're offering high quality lithographs of George Bartell's (1933-2013) spectacular GT350 art at a significantly reduced price, if purchased with the book (you'll see that option when ordering and your lithograph will ship to you immediately upon receiving your order). There's no way to display how incredible George's art is over the internet so trust us, it's a keeper!
Order your book and great art here!

Peter Brock's World videos
They can be anything |
In each video of the Peter Brock's World series, I talk about something in my world. At times I take you on a tour of the 1963 designed Daytona Cobra Coupe pointing out why various elements are the way I designed them and in another I talk about my love of George Bartell's art and what makes it so special. In another you will discover my history with GM engines, uncovering the mystery of why I was destined to have an LS7 in my personal Daytona Cobra Coupe and a ZZ3 in my Datsun 510.
Videos in this series here cover whatever happens to be in my world. Be sure to Subscribe when there and leave feedback on if you've enjoyed the videos and if we should continue the series.

Peter Brock Speaker Series videos
I talk about what I talk about
|
I often speak at events and to groups, sharing stories and our archive images. I'm often asked what topics I speak on. In each of the Peter Brock Speaker Series videos here, I cover one of my presentations, showing some of the interesting images I share with audiences.
Presentation topics are diverse, including my experiences with covering the Land Speed Record trials in 1997, my experiences being Carroll Shelby's first employee through our World Championship in '65, how my Championship BRE Datsun team was the turning point for Japanese cars being accepted in America, to a scholarly, and amusing, look at the history of automotive design from the early 1900s onward. Many more topics include my sharing the story of being a young designer at GM Styling in 1957 and having my sketch chosen as the direction for the 1963 Corvette Sting Ray and all the politics and secrecy that ensued.
I enjoy talking to groups so check out the topics here (one Speaker Series video is posted each week so you won't see all of them posted right now) and let's see if there's a good fit with your event/group. Be sure to subscribe to the video channel here so you know when new videos are posted. If you need more info before your preferred topic appears in video form, just give us a call at 702-558-3374 or email us here.

Peter Brock Book Series videos
Initially covering the making of the first Corvette Sting Ray
|
This series initially focuses on my award winning book: Corvette Sting Ray: Genesis of an American Icon. In each video I provide an excerpt from a chapter or two from the book, sharing one of the most fascinating, inside stories of how this groundbreaking car was designed and brought to market. No matter which is your favorite marque, we hope you enjoy the stories!
Subscribe to view them here at Peter Brock's World and be sure to leave feedback on if you've enjoyed the videos and if we should continue the series

Aerovault Trailer update
Thumper lives!
|
If you follow us on facebook you no doubt saw here the inaugural bending of the 14' long aluminum sheet to make the sides of our new Aerovault trailers. It was a thrill (and it's going to make a heck of a great shop tour).
Since then the plug for the new composite roof has been completed along with a production set of stylish new outer fenders. It's all coming together nicely and the moment we can get a picture of all the pieces together we'll be sure to share. Stay tuned!
Pictured above, left to right is Aerovault crew: Damien (two tour Iraqi veteran and a darn good welder), Jerry (the magic man who has made it all come together and whose depth and breadth of expertise defies description), Don (veteran welder, fabricator, etc, etc) and myself pointing to a test piece of aluminum inscribed with the date Thumper came to life, 9/1/2014.

More Shows
Another couple of interesting interviews came online this week
|
The first is another visit to Rick Titus' Driver's Talk Radio. Rick is always interesting to talk to and this time we took the show to his new studio in the Shelby American facility here in Vegas. It was another fascinating conversation. So much so I enjoyed listening to it here myself!
The second show, Cars Yeah, is relatively new and put on by a good friend of ours, Mark Greene. Mark brings an enthusiasts view to his shows and quickly pulled out of me my favorite philosophy as stated by Arthur Schopenhauer:
"All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident."
Anyone who knows my history with the Daytona Cobra Coupe and the secrecy surrounding the creation of the first Corvette Sting Ray when I was a designer at GM Styling, will understand how I immediately relate to this philosophy! You can find my two part interview with Mark here.

In Closing
Our focus has been primarily on the Aerovault trailers and the video series these last several months. We skipped having a booth at the Laguna Seca track at Monterey last month and instead spent most of our time there at the Monterey Automotive Film Festival. It's held at an impressively restored historic theater in downtown Monterey and if you've never seen some of the classic movies (like Grand Prix) on a really BIG screen, you have to attend next year.
We hope to see you somewhere soon!
