Best Place celebrates their 3rd Anniversary with a celebration this Sunday!
Best Place at Pabst   
To really experience Old World Charm and Hospitality at its finest, you need to take a beer history tour at Best Place at the Historic Pabst Brewery in Milwaukee. No reservations are needed. For a small fee, enjoy a historical guided tour that takes you back to 1844 when Best & Company was born to present day. Tour fee includes a 16 oz. Pabst or Schlitz tap or non-alcoholic beverage of your choice.  Check out tour information here. 

This Sunday, May 26th, Best Place is throwing a 3rd Anniversary Party.  Located at the Historic Pabst Brewery, 901 W. Juneau Ave., the party will be from noon to 8 p.m. and is open to the public.  Regular scheduled beer history tours will be taking place at 12pm, 1pm and 2pm on this day.

 

The celebration features a full slate of activities including beer specials, live music and a hot dog eating contest.  Smokin' Joe's BBQ will be on hand and will be offering special pricing for the barbeque meal of your choice.

West Wisconsin Avenue slated to receive new public art installations

 The Greater Milwaukee Committee (GMC) recently announced that they are a recipient of a $350,000 grant from ArtPlace America .

 

The grant will fund the GMC's Innovation in Milwaukee   new program, 'Creational Trails. The upcoming program will feature the development of interactive art projects in two areas of the city that will focus on strengthening the neighborhood's perceptions of safety and vibrancy.

 

The locations include The ARTery , a former rail corridor two-thirds of a mile in length connecting the Riverwest and Harambee neighborhood, and a ten-block stretch down West Wisconsin Ave. West Wisconsin Ave. will receive $110,000 in funding in order to build a more engaging pedestrian realm.  If all goes according to plan, the artwork will be installed in Spring, 2014.  

 

A public information session for 'Creational Trails will be held on July 15, 2013 at 6 p.m. at OPEN MiKE, located within The Shops of Grand Ave., Plankinton Building 161 W. Wisconsin Ave., Suite #2145.

Westown Farmers' Market begins June 5th;
River Rhythms kick off June 12th 
 
It's hard to believe that another Milwaukee summer is right around the corner!  Westown is excitedly gearing up for another season of their summer events!

The 2013 will feature new lunch options!  From top to bottom:  Bánh mě sandwiches from Bun Me, grilled food from the Grist Mill and globacos from Fast Foodie! 

This year's Farmers' Market kicks off June 5th and continues every Wednesday until October 30th at Zeidler Union Square in downtown Milwaukee.  There will be no market on July 3rd.

  

As always, the Westown Farmers' Market will feature a plethora of Wisconsin grown produce, handmade art and yummy food options.

 

We are excited to feature new vendors including some new choices for lunch.  Those vendors will include Fast Foodie who will be providing their signature globaco (a global taco), BunMe featuring a Vietnamese style sandwich and the The Grist Mill who will be providing a variety of meats from hotdogs and hamburgers to BBQ sandwiches and Italian beef.  Returning lunch vendors include Lopez Bakery, Cousin's Subs, The Soup Market and Streetza Pizza.  For a list of all of our vendors please visit the 2013 Market Vendors webpage. 

 

River Rhythms at Pere Marquette Park

River Rhythms kicks off the 2013 season on June 12th and continues every Wednesday until August 28th at Pere Marquette Park.   The season opens with Piano Brew, a dueling piano show.  There will be no concert on July 3rd.  A special bonus concert will take place on Friday, August 30th from 7-11pm in conjunction with the Harley 110th celebration!  

 

As always, patrons can purchase food from vendors on hand at River Rhythms, and the Westown Beverage Tent will serve Miller Products, wine, soda and water. 

New Faces at Westown! 

  

Westown is excited to welcome new faces to the organization!  Kathleen and Alex, both Marquette students, have joined the Westown Association as summer interns. 
 

Kathleen is a senior studying Psychology and Marketing. She is really excited to be taking part in the Westown Farmers' Market every Wednesday.   Alex is a senior studying English literature and French. You can find her every Wednesday at Westown's River Rhythms enjoying the good  music and company.    

Westown also welcomes Claude Krawczyk of O'Neil, Cannon, Hollman, DeJong & Laing S.C. to the Westown Board of Directors.  Claude also serves as the Downtown Neighbors Association President.

Westbound system ramp to I-43 Southbound is closed until late August. 

 

Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route or follow the detour to I-43 Northbound (exit 1C) to the Fond du Lac Ave./McKinley Ave. interchange (exit 73A) to proceed to I-43 Southbound.

Beginning this week, you can connect to downtown's festivals, restaurants and shopping with the Milwaukee Trolley Loop for only $1 round trip!

 

Hop on Thursday- Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m! 

Park once and enjoy everything downtown has to offer. Trolley service continues until August 31st.

New Menu at Miller Time Pub 

 

The Miller Time Pub, located in the Hilton Milwaukee City Center, recently reintroduced its concept of the perfect pairing of beer and food.    


To enhance the dining experience, the restaurant, in partnership with  MillerCoors, offers more than 25 draft options and over 50 brands of beers in a variety of growlers, yards or flights.
