Energetic Seniors

June 2016

Greetings!

There are days when it crosses my mind that I have too much to do or don't feel like working out; but then the thought comes into my mind that I MUST exercise no matter what, whether it's working with my trainer at home, going on endless dog walks or going to an exercise class.

I am a Baby Boomer who intends to ALWAYS stay active, no matter what that will look like as the years move forward.  The goal for exercising often changes over the years, but to me the most important thing is that I continue to stay physically active in my daily life and reap the many benefits-both mental and physical.

Most important is that I learn what type of exercise is appropriate so I can work safely and efficiently, and that's where working with a well-educated trainer comes in. Educated trainers understand that working with a 20-year-old is not the same as working with a 60-year-old.

Energetic Seniors is here for you or your clients this summer, and we can provide an appropriate and fulfilling workout for any boomer or senior.

Sincerely,
Bonita

Dance Cardio Class with Michelle Brooke

One of our new trainers, Michelle, recently taught a dance cardio class for boomers and seniors.  The students in her class ranged in age from 60 to 90.  Michelle has a great deal of experience as a professional dancer and as a personal trainer.

Exercise Keeps the Aging Brain Healthy

A recent study published in The Journal of Alzheimer's Disease tracked how exercise among elderly persons improved brain health.  The subjects who increased their physical activity over the course of five years had a correlative increase in gray matter in the brain.  Gray matter in a brain is a sign of overall health.  According to the study, subjects who had more gray matter associated with an increase in physical activity had a 50 percent lower risk of experiencing memory decline or developing Alzheimer's during the course of the study.
