Great tips on Halloween treats and fitness games below.

Happy Halloween!
I have so many fun memories of Halloween with my daughters while they were growing up, including many Halloween parties that we hosted, coming up with costumes (sometimes last minute), and, yes, lots and lots of candy spread all over the table after trick-or-treating.

I want to share with you some fun active activities that you can do with your children and their friends. Also from our friends at Brown & Medina Nutrition, some helpful and practical tips.

Happy Halloween, and make lots of memories!

Bonita
'Bats in a Cave!' Fitness Game
By Michael Shipper, EJ Youth Fitness Specialist

I took the concept of Pin the Tail on the Donkey and re-engineered it into a Halloween game. During the game the children need to place "bats" (i.e. bean bags or small stuffed animals) in a pop-up soccer net or laundry basket (aka bat cave), and they need to complete this task in under one minute. If they don't get all the bats in the cave they need to perform an exercise, such as jumping jacks or push-ups.

Managing Your Child's Candy Consumption
By Brown & Medina Nutrition

Halloween candy can disrupt the healthy nutrition standards we work so hard to encourage in our homes; however, there are ways to make your children happy while keeping them from eating too much candy all at once.
