Put Some "Spring" in Your Step and Move Together!

It's just about time to start enjoying warmer weather get your family out and moving to shake off any winter blues!

One of the best ways to enjoy active family time in the spring is to take advantage of your very own city and explore a new neighborhood or rediscover an area by taking a family walking tour.  We often forget what amazing things are in our very own backyard.  Check out websites like this:  http://www.walkingoffthebigapple.com/p/nyc-self-guided-walks-by-area.html to get ideas for new neighborhoods to discover.  It's great to have a destination point that can be educational or perhaps a family picnic stop before taking the walk back home.  A simple family walk or a hike is a great way to get motivated to move and be fit together!

Recent Spring into Spring Event

We were honored to participate in the Spring into Spring event at Gilda's Club for children and their families. I'm not sure who had the most fun, the children or EJ trainers.

Meet Energetic Juniors Trainer Michael Shipper (Youth Fitness Specialist)
"My philosophy is one of INclusion, not EXclusion. The best way to Include a child or adolescent in an activity is to find out what they love and use that as motivation. In essence, I teach kids how to move properly, reduce risk of injury, develop a long-term love for exercise, and focus on continual improvement not performance. Overall, my objective is to enable any child, regardless of ability or background to have an enriching active experience."


Q: What do you love most about training children?

A: There are a multitude of reasons I can give as to why I love training kids, but here are my top three: 1.) Working with kids is fun! I love that no single day is the same. 2.) I learn from the children I'm working with everyday. I admire that children have endless energy, are brutally honest, extremely creative, and very resilient. In addition, they make me a more knowledgeable person. 3.) Working with children is the most rewarding job I can think of. At the end of each day, I find myself thinking of the kids I worked with. I think about the progress they've made and the overall sense that I have contributed to their feeling better, stronger, empowered, and happier after one hour.
