Greetings!

and...

Happy Thanksgiving!

This is my absolute favorite holiday.

I have such fond memories of  Thanksgivings with my family, from the time our girls were babies, until now that they are grown young women.  I will never forget any of these precious memories.

We all need this time to simply enjoy being with family, especially in these busy times, and especially for those families who are celebrating both Thanksgiving and Hanukkah this week.

Make some family memories of your own over the holiday by going for a family walk, throw the ball around, or simply playing a fun game of outdoor hide and seek.

Best Regards and Happy Holidays!

Fitness Tips for Thanksgivukkah!

by EJ Trainer Katrina Phillip

Thanksgiving and the first day of Hanukkah won't fall on the same day again until the year 2070! Enjoy this special convergence of dates outdoors with your family and this great fitness game from EJ trainer Katrina:

Go outside for a walk and enjoy the colors of all the leaves falling from the trees.

During your power walk, collect five differently shaped leaves.

When you arrive home, try to make up your own yoga
pose that resembles each of the leaves that you had chosen.  Remember to hold your poses for at least 10 seconds.  Breathe in through your nose, and out through your mouth.

Enjoy the season while it lasts!

Personal Training and Sensory Integration Challenges
By Roxanne Chess MS, OTR/L
McCarton Center for Developmental Pediatrics
This month we are so lucky to have a very important submission from a new friend of EJ, Roxanne Chess.  Roxanne Chess is a pediatric occupational therapist.

Children and adults with sensory integration differences experience this world in way we may not always understand. As a parents, siblings, peers or clinicians it is our responsibility to learn how the individual interprets sensory input and understand why they may demonstrate behavioral or developmental differences. Development, which includes physical endurance and gross motor skills, is totally reliant on sensory processing and integration. In fact, our daily participation in any activity depends fully on the extent to which an individual is capable of "typical" or successful sensory integration for functional output.

Please read the rest of this important article on our BLOG.

Friends of EJ: Fusion Academy

Energetic Juniors would like to introduce one of our new friends, Fusion Academy & Learning Center, to our readers.
Fusion Academy shares our educational philosophy that for some young students, one-to-one learning can make all the difference.  Fusion Academy & Learning Center is an alternative, college-prep private school for grades 6-12 that offers class sizes as small as they come: one student, one teacher. The close, teacher/student mentorship helps students develop confidence in the same way that Energetic Juniors trainers help their young clients to develop positive fitness habits that last a lifetime.

Read more about Fusion Academy and one-on-one learning on our BLOG!
