Just a quick note to remind you of our GABF National Meeting & Seminar:

Speakers/ Education Seminar

 

Keynote:

 

Carol Stoudt - Owner of Stoudt Brewing Co.in Adamstown, PA. Carol will share her experiences as a pioneer craft brewery owner in 1986 and will share her best beer-selling tips.
 

Technical Program: How to Become a GABF Judge:


Sue Thompson - Analytical/Sensory Services Manager for MillerCoors in Milwaukee, WI. Sue will discuss off-flavors and what you as a judge are expected to be able to identify. Depending on logistics, there should be some sensory training with this.

 

Tonya Cornett - Director of Research & Development for 10-Barrel Brewing Co. in Bend, OR. Tonya will talk about what she does to prepare for judging, and what a typical judge day entails.

 

Randy Scorby - Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) Education Director, via DVD video. Randy will discuss the process of becoming a certified homebrew judge, often the first step toward becoming a professional beer judge.

 

Meeting & Event Details:

Door Donation is $10, which is in lieu of annual dues. It also covers the cost of the meeting space, the pitchers of beer and gratuity.

 

Please bring cash for the $10 Door Donation, and for a PBS t-shirt ($25) and PBS cloisonne pin ($5) that will be available for purchase. Pin and T-shirt sales fund our scholarship chest, which we are building in anticipation of our imminent 501(c)3 status.

 

Also please bring swag for the raffle.

 

Vegetarian Black Bean Chili will be available for $5, please pay at the door. 

 

We need volunteers for this meeting! Please arrive 10-15 minutes early and Megan will assign you a task. We sure appreciate your help!

 

If you are a woman beer professional, see you there! If you know a woman beer professional, please encourage her to come and meet her peers!

GABF LogoIf you are a beer professional (and hopefully a PBS member), you may have the experience and chops to become a professional beer judge. The requirements are straight forward: How much professional sensory experience and training do you have? That's pretty much the bottom line: Are you Experienced?

Lucy Saunder's Beer CookbookWe invite members who are beer writers or otherwise produce beer media, to share your beer knowledge, and bring your books, CDs or DVDs to sell at a Member Media Sales Table at any meeting. You will handle your own sales.

 

No donation is necessary, but after we have 501(c)3 status, we would appreciate you donating a proportion of your proceeds from sales at our meeting to PBS's scholarship fund.
