Randy Prasse Takes The Gettysburg Festival Helm
The Gettysburg Festival is pleased to welcome our new Executive Director, Randy Prasse. He stepped into his new role on Monday, March 18 and has hit the ground running in preparation for the 2013 Festival.

Selected from 200 applicants responding to a national search, Gettysburg Festival Board Chair, Edith Jardine, explains the board's decision: "We believe that in Randy Prasse we have the perfect combination of experience and demonstrated success. He brings an extensive background in major festival and event management, including five years as CEO and Executive Director of the Wisconsin State Fair and an impressive history of consistently designing programming that attracts people to the downtown area with a focus on food, art, culture and street performers - which was very important to us, since supporting our local economy is part of the Gettysburg Festival mission."

FringeFestival
On The Fringe...
Ever wonder about the Gettysburg Festival Fringe? What is it? What makes it stand out from the rest of the Gettysburg Festival? The Fringe actually has historical roots that span around the world!

The "fringe" concept began in 1947 in Edinburgh, Scotland as an alternative event that ran concurrently with the Edinburgh International Festival. The following year Robert Kemp, a local Edinburgh journalist, gave it the name Fringe, saying: "Round the fringe of official Festival drama, there seems to be more private enterprise than before..." Fringe events are now found around the world, and have also caught on in the United States.

Like all fringe events, the Gettysburg Festival Fringe is an open community cultural experience.Part of the larger Gettysburg Festival, the Fringe is designed to provide the opportunity for every artist, writer, performer, cultural organization, historical venue, church and business in Gettysburg and the regional area to present their event.

Sound interesting? Do you have an event you would love to host? Find out more and download the application form. But, hurry! The deadline is April 6th.
