 Gingerbread Creations

The results are in and the winners are....

1st Place 2012 Gingerbread by Koney Island Confections

First Prize  of $500 sponsored by Gettysburg Hotel Est. 1797 went to Melissa Jacoby Thomas from Dillsburg.  Her Red Barn creation included tinted coconut hay bales, snow covered trees, a snowman and even a kitten in the upper window.  The fine details were intriguing, right down to the tall spire on the top of the cupola.

  2nd Place 2012 Gingerbread Winner

Second Prize of $250 sponsored by Barb Zimmerman and Suzanne Christianson - RE/MAX of Gettysburg was presented to Sarah Dutton (shown above with her children and the prize sponsors).  Sarah's Lighthouse was covered with silver colored rice krispies.  Brown sugar sand and a necco wafer roof added to the charm. A beacon light completed the ambiance.

3rd Place 2012 Gingerbread by Gettysburg College Servo

Third Prize of $100 sponsored by Judie and John Butterfield was awarded to the team from Gettysburg College Servo under the direction of Charles Stockman.  The 1:31 scale model of Glatfelter Lodge included cooked colored sugar windows and interior lighting.  Lanterns made from spaghetti and tiny marshmallows, and bushes made out of broccoli were features commented upon throughout the day.  The winning builders will be donating their prize to Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

Congratulations and THANK YOU to all our builders.  We wish we could have provided each of you with a prize.

Holiday Mart a Success
Thank you to Carol Novak and Barbara Zimmerman who, along with Phyllis Netherland, coordinated the Holiday Mart held in conjunction with the Gingerbread Competition.  Visitors to the Gingerbread event could purchase holiday gifts, artwork, jewelry and more.  A special area designed just for young people to shop was also available.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to our Festival Supporters.
Santa and Guests
Santa himself stopped by the Gingerbread Competition to surprise our younger guests.
