The Vagina Monologues

Come and support a performance of "The Vagina Monologues" on May 21, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Oakland Peace Center (111 Fairmount Ave., Oakland, CA).  Why are we doing this performance?  As a women's church group?  In a sanctuary??  Glad you asked!  We want to promote healthy sexuality in connection with church and our spiritual lives. Our production of The Vagina Monologues shows an unashamed and loving view of the bodies that the Creator shaped.  Our local Disciples and UCC women will be in the performance!  This is a Trans Women inclusive event.

For all churches -- download the publicity pack here and help us spread the word.  The
Publicity Pack includes bulletin half-sheet inserts, an 8x11 flyer and an 8x14 poster.

We need a few more people to assist us with bringing desserts, setup, cleanup and general hospitality.  We are also seeking several more performers -- no experience required.  If you're available, please contact Katy in the Regional Office at katy@ccncn.org or Veronica Dise-Hodge at peaceandblessings2020@gmail.com.

Tickets will be available at the door on a sliding scale from $10-$20.  No one turned away.

Mini-Miracle Day

Mini-Miracle Day at the Oakland Peace Center is almost here!  On Saturday, May 7, Disciples and community members will gather at 111 Fairmount to fix up this place that promotes peace throughout the city of Oakland.  This is also the historic building where First Christian Church of Oakland worships. YOU can help in one of several ways:
  • Prayers and Love for the project
  • Making a donation -- we are getting closer to the first $5,000 goal
  • Making a commitment to show up and help.  We will have jobs for all skill levels.
Make donations and sign up to help here.  This is the last email about the event, so don't wait to go and sign up. You're the miracle that will make this mini-miracle day happen.  See you in Oakland on May 7.
2016 National Youth Event
Greetings, Disciples!

I am excited to be reaching out to you from the great region of Indiana and as a fellow Disciple. My name is Jessica L. Phillips, and I'm the appointed Volunteer Coordinator for the 2016 National Youth Event.

Today I ask that you consider sponsoring, volunteers and/or youth to attend this international event. I continue to be encouraged and renewed by the Disciples who find innovative ways to show their support for the youth and young adults, and continue to encourage us in our efforts to sustain and build this great church we've all been called to.

I am sure that you have a number of questions, and I will do my best to address those questions in the time we have leading up to the event in Orlando. Please review a list of needs we are seeking to be filled, as well as our FAQ sheet.

There will be more to come, and please feel free to be in contact with me with any questions or concerns that you have. Know that I am grateful for the work that you do individually, and collectively. I pray your continued strength, peace, and endurance as we all do the work of God in our communities and our church.

Ashe!
