Speaker Spotlight:
Rev. Bruce Barkhauer

We are pleased to welcome Rev. Bruce Barkhauer to our Annual Gathering this year! Rev. Barkhauer will offer the message at our closing worship on April 9.

Rev. Barkhauer was called as the first "Minister for Faith and Giving for Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)" in 2010.

For twenty-five years he has led congregations in Ohio and Indiana in achieving high levels of financial support for local and global missions and he now shares his experience across the life of the whole church.

His energy, vision, and entrepreneurial spirit enhance gifts in both business and ministry. He brings a biblically based understanding about stewardship combined with theological integrity and weds them to the current trends and best practices related to spirituality and money. In his workshops and writings, Rev. Barkhauer also talks about the multiple understandings about stewardship in the biblical witness as they touch the whole life of a person of faith.

He is a graduate of Ohio University (Athens), Christian Theological Seminary (Indianapolis), and did Doctor of Ministry studies at Ashland Theological Seminary (Ashland, OH). He is married to Laura and they share three grown children and two grandchildren.
If you have not yet registered for the 2016 Annual Gathering, registration deadline is March 25. You can register by clicking here. You won't want to miss this opportunity to hear Dr. Kinnamon and be inspired by what he has to share!

Regional Reconciliation Grant

Reminder - deadline March 22

Endeavors addressing root causes of racism are especially welcome. Reconciliation grants from the CCNC-N range from approximately $500 - $1000, with the hope that the congregation will raise or seek additional funds elsewhere.

Help the Oakland Peace Center

The Oakland Peace Center is a nonprofit that provides needed space, hosts collaborative events and trainings, and creates a network of emotional and spiritual support for their partner organizations.  Conceived as a legacy of First Christian Church of Oakland, the OPC believes that one of the best ways a building of God can be a gift to the community is through using it as a conduit for peace.  The problem with this is that the wonderful building (111 Fairmount Ave.) was built in 1929, and needs a little (read: a lot) of TLC to make it the physical representation of working for wholeness in the world.

On May 7th, the Oakland Peace Center, in partnership with CCNCN will work to provide much needed rehabilitations and updates to the building as part of a mini Miracle Day.  Please help us in whatever way you can! Able to work?  Come out and help us!  Not able to work?  Please partner with us in prayer or with your financial support!  Let's find ways to honor God by working to make our community better.  Thank you in advance!

For more information, please contact: Rev. Sandhya Jha at sandhya@oaklandpeacecenter.org or Eula Pagdilao at eula@ccncn.org

PSR and DSF announce Full Tuition Scholarships for Disciples Students

In an effort to strengthen their continued commitment to preparing people for religious leadership within the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Pacific School of Religion (PSR) and the Disciples Seminary Foundation (DSF) have partnered to ensure that all PSR master's degree students affiliated with DSF will receive a scholarship that covers 100% of their tuition - 40% from DSF and 60% from PRS.  We recognize that the cost of graduate education is significant and are committed to partnering with students to make it possible for them to answer their call to service, ministry, and scholarship.  By proving this scholarship, we hope an even greater number of talented individuals will be able to obtain the education they seek to equip themselves to be effective, engaged, and compassionate religious leaders.  Please contact admissions@psr.edu for more information.
